they might have figured out that if they don't eat their regular food you give them better food. We started giving my dogs wet food with dinner and they now won't eat there dry food until we give them their wet food.

Before more uneducated come in and say that dogs have to have meat; they don't. They live quite well on a vegetarian diet. They are true omnivores - their nutrients can be supplied from vegetarian foods quite easily when fed a balanced diet.
For your question, if they aren't eating for days at a time, they need to go to the vet. Remember that because the weather has been so hot in many parts of the country, animals may eat less, but they should still be eating something every 24-48 hours.
You may also want to switch them to a higher quality food than pedigree. Natural Balance offers a vegetarian food that's very high quality and dogs tend to love it. Some Petco stores carry it (petco not petsmart) and many pet food stores that carry high end foods carry it as well.
Place a call to the vet and see if they see a need to come in. Be sure you have kept close track of what the animals are eating, how much, and if they are having bowel movements. The vet may simply say that it's that time of year, but he may also have a concern if it happens too frequently.

I respect that you and your grandmother are vegetarians, but dogs are not. Dog food can include chicken, lamb, rice, etc., which is what a dog needs to stay healthy. (Especially with large, active dogs like an Alsatian and Lab!) Start feeding them a good dog food, and they should go back to eating normally. They don't NEED table scraps (meat, fish, egg) to survive, no matter how much they like them! :) Pedigree and other grocery store foods are not the best for dogs -- they must eat more but don't get the necessary vitamins, etc. Nutro Natural Choice, Science Diet, and Eukanuba are 3 great foods you can get at a local pet store.

It's not worth it =/ Keep eating. If what you want is to lose weight, do it the healthy way. I'm sure you'll feel a lot better about yourself if you do it the right way. Plus your body will look sexier =] Lol. And if you don't eat, your body will eat itself till you die. And If/when you start to eat again your body will cling to any food you put in your body and it will store the food as fat Because your body will get scared that youre going to starve it again. So, you'll gain all the weight you lost back, and you'll probably even gain more than what you lost. SO DONT STARVE YOURSELF! ANOREXIA IS A DEADLY ILLNESS! and only doing it for a week or however long you planm on doing it wont help cause youll gain it all back when you put food back in your body anyways!! eat small amounts of healthy food and exercise!!<3 good luck!

They just may not like the brand of dog food you are giving them, you may want to change it, if you can't change their dog food then don't worry, animals will not starve themselves to death. If thier food is ou for them they will eat it when they get hungry enough. If it really concerns you though you could always take them to the vet and ask them for some advice.
If you do want to encourage them to eat or give them a little varriety, don't give them meat, if they haven't grown up with it it will upset their stomachs, but dogs do love vegetables, you can feed them carrot sticks and celery sticks, sliced apple, all kinds of things, mine even love red and green peppers. Just no grapes or onions of any kind they will hurt your dogs.

Sometimes you should think about your dogs health instead of yours, dogs are not vegetarians, they are creatures of nature. Occasionally go to the store and buy some bacon, cook a few pieces and pour the grease on your dogs food, it will LOVE you.
I on the other hand feel that you should keep on changing the way nature works, and pave over the everglades, we need more people like you to live there to teach the gators to eat thier veggies.

No dog ever died because he missed a meal.
Feed your dog dry kibble and watch his weight. If you can see protruding ribs then your dog might be malnourished.
Humans and dogs are different species; each has different nutritional requirements. Don't feed your dog human food, and don't eat his dog food and you should both get along fine (-:

I have noticed with my Lab/ mastiff mix that he will not eat during the day when is extremely hot. I was worried at first, but he eventually eats. But to be sure I cool my house and feed him inside.
I also make sure that he gets plenty of exercise.(Walk him in the cool hours of the day) This also helps.
