The first and MOST important step in quiting smoking, or anything else for that matter, is WANTING to quit. If you have made the decision to quit and genuinly want to quit for you then any method you use will work, personally I used the patch. However, if you are quiting for someone or something else, and do not actually desire to quit, no method will work. Quiting is hard, and if you don't do it for yourself, then don't bother since you're doomed to failure.

Self-discipline. The quitting process takes place in your head. I did it - so can you. Make the decision and just do it! It will not be easy. You'll crave cigarettes for years. But the satisfaction of getting that monkey off your back tips the scales in favor of never taking another puff again. Good luck to you!

Start exercising. It will release a bio chemical that depresses the urges to smoke.

After trying everything, only one thing worked.....cold turkey...ya gotta want it or else nothing works. 7 months free.
