The vaccine that is used actually is said to last for three years, but most veterinarians recommend once a year. There is some debate as to whether the vaccine really does last the full three years, so it is best to get it done yearly.

Vaccinations depends on where you live and the guidlines. I work in a vets office and here the vaccinations for a canine goes:
1st vaccination given at 8 weeks
2nd vaccination given a month later at 12 weeks
3rd vaccination & 1yr Rabies given a month after 2nd vaccination at 16 weeks
A year from the date your last vaccinatin & 1yr Rabies was given you need to go back and get what is called annual vaccination and a 3yr Rabies meaning the rabies shot is good for 3 years while the annual vaccinations are just that annual or in other words yearly. What ever vet you go to should be sending you a remeinder of your dogs vaccination and keeping track of it for you. When in doubt always ask your vet.

It depends on what state you live in. In Iowa it's every three years after the initial shot. In Illinois and Arkansas it's every year. I was told they make it every year so people won't forgot.

if you live in a high risk area like the country where the dog may eat dead animals (opossums, raccoons etc..) or get into a fight with one in the woods they will recommend every year. If you are in a low risk area every other year
