I know that an active duty member can't be associated with any activist groups, what I was wondering is can their spouses be associated with any activist groups or could that get the active duty member in trouble?? Also can a spouse participate in a march that is an agenda based march?? (like a activist march in DC??)

Your friend or spouse is the one contractually obligated to following command decisions. I warn thee though, the military has ways of hearing about things and holding it against people. Things such as long term assignments to crappy duty stations, passed over for promotions, TADs to ugly places. Do what you think best.

I am the wife of a Senior Army Officer. I marched against the Iraq war, I am a member of a Political Party and a member of several activist animal organisations. The only thing I have adhered to is not being interviewed on camera as I love him and I don't want to publicly embarrass him... but my views are my own. I have my own career, my own life, and I married HIM not the Army.

You will not get officially "in trouble" but you will make you spouse look bad, the information always gets around some how!You kinda forfeited all you protesting days the moment you said I do,

don't get me wrong you still have your first amendment right, but being in a military marriage you do not want to jeopardize your spouses career, he isn't allowed so you should respect him and his decisions to be committed to the military by holding off on protests until he is discharged!

but you can do what ever you'd like he is obligated not you!

They can, but not or near a military installation. Also, tell your chain of command that your spouse is in such a group. That way they no and can't blame you for anything.

yes they can, spouses are not subject to the same rules that soldiers are. soldiers dont really have freedom of speech but spouses do. as long as they dont protest or anything on post, in that case the post commander could ban them from post.

I would tell the spouse to stay away from all that nonsense. You never know who would see there. You could get seriosly ******. Just because they "can't" do any thing to you does not mean that they won't.
