Because men (and women) change their minds at many points in their lives. They may think they want something and then discover further down the line that they don't want it anymore. It's no different than someone eating boiled eggs every morning for 5 years then waking up one day and not wanting them anymore. It is called changing as you grow older. Some people do not want to accept this to be the truth. Those are the people who decide to call people immature for having a change of heart. The true immaturity lies in those people who can not accept change.

I'm a female but I can answer this question. It's because that could very well be WHAT they want in life BUT they may change their mind on who they want that with. That is what dating is all about. You either make it or you don't. It hurts and you felt he was committed to you but he isn't right now evidently. Back off from him. Arguing with him and his feelings won't do any good as you can't tell someone else how to feel.

Men, like women, may start out with the best of intentions and then find out that this isn't what they wanted after all. That's why I always laugh at these people who write on here that they've met their life partner after only knowing each other for 2 months! Get real.......

Not trying to be mean, and not saying its the reason in your case, but sometimes its just an easier way of letting the woman down. We may still want it, but since some time has passed and we have hopefully gotten to know the woman better, maybe we see that you are not the person we want the marriage and kid with, but it doesn`t mean we don`t want it, we just don`t want it with you. So you see, its an attempt to spare your feelings.

Its hard to know exactly what you want in the future... the factors in your life change, your life style changes, your experiences change... But also, many guys just don't want the responsibility of a family and a relationship.

That's how friendships start and finish with no strings attached. If a gf wants marriage then she can stipulate it on the very first date she has so that every thing would be clear, if not then it's just fun and frolic for both until one of them tires from the other.

I'm with the rest of them. It really just means that its not working out between y'all.
And its never 'out of the blue' with guys. While we don't do subtle or take hints, we will let something like that just build and build and finally just step up and go, yep, its over. So its a surprise to you, but really its been done for a couple of months.

Human nature. Some people put on a front to attract people.
At least he was honest with you.
You just need to get a guy who IS down with a relationship and a future family.
