You can NOT give flea baths or medicine to them yet. Best way to get rid of them is a bath with Dawn dish liquid. Kills all the fleas.

Your kittens are entirely to young to use frontline , or a flea bath or any type of medicated flea remover on them. Whatever you do, do not use anything with chemicals desgined to get rid of fleas, it will be to strong on their bodies and could cause illness and injury. If you want to get rid of fleas, I would advise that you give any adult cats in the house a flea bath and use frontline on them. With the mother cat, if you are using a flea bath be careful around the nipples since the kittens are still nursing and the area might be tender to any type of chemicals, also make sure that the area is also rinsed very well so that it doesnt get into the kittens milk. I would highly advise frontline and frontline only for the mother cat. As for the kittens, give them a light rinse with a simple mild soap like dishwashing liquid, I would recommed dove or ivory for dishes. Make sure you dont get them soaking wet . Just run a damp rag over the fur to get it moist, use a tiny bit of soap to work up a light gentle lather and just enough to clean them, adn the use another damp rag to remove all the soap as well, no more than that should be necessary. Make sure use warm water since kittens that young are still able to get sick very easily and make your movements gentle as they are still so young and eveything is still tender. Make sure you dry the kittens well and keep them in a warm place so that they don't catch a cold. Don't bathe them anymore than twice a week (once at the beginning and once at the end) and keep this method up until the fleas are gone.

Rub a small amount of baby oil on them with a paper towel. Most flea killers can't be used on kittens so young. The nursing mother should also be wiped down with the oil instead of sprays and powders until the babies are at least 6 weeks.

Take them to the vet... use a flea comb... do NOT use normal flea spray or other treatments on them... you can use diatenacious earth (DE) but it does not work fast enough...

or...

you can lock them in the bathroom (or other easily cleaned room) and keep them from the rest of your house...

visit them at least 3 times a day... comb the fleas... play with them... talk to them...

it will not get rid of the fleas... but it will limit the number in the rest of the house until you CAN treat them with something...

I had a neighbor cat come to me (the owners did not pay much attention to it) when she had her kittens... frightened out of her mind... covered in fleas... the above is what I did because the vet at the time had nothing to use on such young kittens... hopefully they do now.

spray on some cotton a little frontline and gently rub it on the cats(stay away from the mouth).

another thing is to bath them.
take a big basin and fill it with lukewarm water.
gently pick one of the kitten and put him in the water make sure his head is out of the water, keep him in the water for about five minutes while his in the water gently rub his body to get as many fleas as possible sink. also while his in the water make sure to look at his head and catch any fleas there, if you did just dump them in the water.
when you get the kitten out quickly put a towel and dry him out. then search handily for any more flees(if the kitten has any dark fur you can use a louse comb.

if you want you can do it with out water just put the kitten in your lap and start going through his fur for flees, use a louse comb.

I'm not absolutely certain this will work- but maybe you can try feeding brewer's yeast and garlic to Momma and hope it goes through her milk to the kittens?

Otherwise, take them to the vet and treat the area where they were for fleas so the babies won't be infested again.

you CAN use frontline, but BE CAREFUl....I had this problem when I found a couple week old kitten....you need the spray and you CAN NOT spary it directly on the kitten you have to spray a couple sprays into a small towel or washcloth and then hold the wash cloth around the kitten for oh I dont remember 30 seconds to a min Im not sure...but talk to ur vet!

They are too young for treatments like Frontline. Try a flea bath until they are old enough for medication. Also, give frontline to any adult cats in the household, and their dander will help protect the little ones. (But don't give it to a nursing cat)

we have cats and they too have fleas. the best way of getting rid of them is to invest in a cat comb that is battery operated and sends a slight electric shock to the flea (which will kill it) but is completly harmless to the cat or kittens
