There's always a brighter future.
Washing dishes is an honorable task. It can lead to other positions in the kitchen, then into the dining room, then to waiting tables where you impress a customer who gives you a shot at being an apprentice in her multimillion dollar office where you shine and get promoted rapidly and you eventually become the boss and you embezzle funds and you end up in prison where Big Bubba makes you his girlfriend and when you get out the only job you can find is washing dishes.

I started as a dishwasher when I was 15. 13 years later and I'm an engineer at IBM. It's up to you to accelerate your career. Kick some major butt in the work place and let the management know you want to move up. Or you can take classes to move to a different career. You will only go as far as your feet will take you.

Dishwashers do an honest day's labor -- it's hard work and they get paid next to nothing for it. But yes, they can have a brighter future if they want one.

You can IF you want to. Study something after or before work. Get in a trade school or do apprentice work part time to learn a new trade. Take classes for the restaurant business if you like it. You can do it!
