Wow, you hit this wall pretty hard, didn't you ? All this "fading away" and the "horrors" of aging. Can't say I don't understand, because our country in particular is intensely focused on youth (<30). When you hit 40 and 50, people just look right through you.
On the other hand, sit back and watch them make all the stupid and costly mistakes made only as a result of being too young to know. Watch "The Apprentice" sometime and see that here are a group of young, intelligent, and mostly driven people - see the ideas they have and the mistakes they make and you will recognize that their failures are almost ALWAYS due to the impetuousness of youth.
I'm not knockin' youth - but I AM saying that it is not the "end-to-be-all." If, indeed, you can only see yourself as the fit 25 year-old who could take on the world as being the only happiness you can have as a human being, then - sure - you may as well pack it in, kiddo. If all you see when you look in a loved ones face is wrinkles and not all the happiness that put them there, then - wow- you may well ask the Lord to take you now.
You can focus on the "diminishment" or you can focus on living. Sex continues into the geriatric realm; your body can remain fit and productive up until you die. You can laugh and love and play and give and receive, and enjoy this world no matter how old you get. Or you can play Eeyore and fade away.
Youth will always dismiss age. Their loss.

You can'y straight out answer that question. I say continue what you love doing. You should be able to do it for a long time if you keep it up. For example my Great Grandma loves to ride motorcycles (she drives) and she is still doing that at 80 years old. If it starts to become to painful to do then don't fight and just accept the truth that you are getting older. That is the perfect time to make sure your friends and family is close. Start working on any relations that have been having trouble.

I know this is a cliche but age really is just a number. You you act old you'll be old. My mom is 78 and I would never consider her "elderly" she likes to get out and go places and doesn't just sit at home vegitating.
I am 44 but could easily pass of 34. I dress contemporary, I'm in decent shape and don't feel like I'm in my 40's. I am not financially able to affort cosmetic surgery so I will just keep taking care of myself and hope my looks and attitude don't catch up to my age.

In this context, life is what YOU make it. So you age...does that mean you have to just give in and let yourself go? Of coarse not. That is NOT what it means to live. God may fully reign over how many years you have on this earth but YOU have choices as to what you do with the time he gives you. I am 33 and admit to aging badly but that does NOT make me who I am, in part or in full. I choose to ignore the aging process and LIVE! Birthdays wil come every year, to be sure, BUT that does not mean there are certain age appropriate rules that apply. You do not have to stop enjoying amusement park rides once you become a certain age. You do not have to stop enjoying a beautiful sunset at a certain age either. Some things you learn to value more with age. Some things you learn to value DIFFERENTLY with age. Aging is a matter of personal perception. You are only as young as you feel. Those are not just words but are an idea of life. You can take on the mentality to fit your age or you can take on the attitude of still feeling young and having young fun despite your age. Physical limitations mean only that you can not do SOME things you used to...does NOT mean you can not do EVERYTHING you used to. I say fight. Maintain a healthy, active lifestyle despite your age. Do everything in your power to continue to do the things you enjoy in life. Those things are of value and so is life. Life is the most precious thing we, as humans, have. Do not waste it on stupid delusions that have to do with the ideas of people on what is appropriate for that age. There are no "age" rules and those who believe there ARE age rules are deluding themselves. Live life to the fullest! THAT is what it means to live, no matter how old you are!
I have cheated death many times, just by living from one day to the next. despite my personal physical difficulties, the same is true for EVERY person alive. EVERY DAY a person lives is one more day that they have cheated death. It is all a matter of perception.

To me the biggest aging problem is your brain ...your only as old as you feel. I have no problem with aging and I just accept it as a part of life itself. There is nothing you can do to stop what God has intended to happen. So learn to keep yourself young mentally

if you don 't accept getting old you wont ever get old,
old age is actually a rather fun part of life.
it's more about wisdom and power of persuasion, the freebies.....
and a game of checkers is competition as much as a game of chess...
people let you on bus first... i don't like it.... i'm not finished with my beer ,
but it's nice
but if you try too hard to stay young.... you are gonna miss something

Keep exercising and eat well and forget about wrinkles etc. Just be happy. Do not compete with the young.

You can fight it for a little while (anti-aging creams, excersizing, etc.) but eventually you just have to give in.

It's natural, that's why I bet you wished you treated your woman better, then you'd still have her, where as now you are alone.
