It is not at all important, it is purely cosmetic and a practice that should be stopped. Why cause your dog all that pain simply for appearances?

Contrary to popular belief, some Dobermans DO have a reason for ear cropping.
Imagine a Dobe with natural ears and/or tail that participates in search and rescue being nearly pulled under water by a child the dog was attempting to save because the kid latched onto an ear or tail. I've seen it happen.
Also, think how those same two items can be used to a criminals advantage if a Dobe is used for protection or security purposes.
Some do this for REAL reasons and if its done PROPERLY by a vet and EARLY, there is little discomfort involved.

no this is not important to an actual animal lover. the docking of ears and tails are something completely cosmetic. Certain breeds are thought to look more dominant or "sharp" if they have been altered. It serves no purpose other than to show a dog or have it look more sharp which I find completely stupid. However on the up side you are seeing more and more people these days choosing not to do this, also alot of breeders will have this done or do it themselves right off the bat when a litter is born so the perspective owners dont have to. Some dobies have up ears as you call it because they have had this docking done and some dont because they havent had it done, or they have had it done and the ear falls again afterwards.

Docking tails may seem mean, but big dogs have a tendency to break their tails and this causes a lot of pain. Docking their tails as a puppy avoids that problem. As for the ears, it's a little more complicated...Dobermans were originally bred to protect the king from the enemy and from Satan himself. I think the ear cropping has something to do with either looking mean for that job or for being more efficient at that job. As of present day, it's more of a tradition thing.

Some argue that it opens up air flow to the ears and prevents ear infections (this is stupid, especially for a breed like the doberman who's ears are not that big to begin with). Some also argue for cropped tails because they can get injured, especially with larger dogs and dogs used for hunting. I have a friend with a rescue great dane whose tail was not docked, and the dog has broken its tail and has all sorts of problems with it. Depending on the dog, tail docking is not always stupid.

A in charge breeder gets their Doberman domestic dogs' ears cropped, the tail is docked. A 3 hundred and sixty 5 days is in simple terms too previous and on the different hand, she will not be shown or something so as which you will besides save her and your self the time, price and hardship of having her cropped. it fairly is stressful for a beginner to locate a good cropper first of all and a good sort of/maximum vets do not comprehend a thank you to superb crop and comprehend next to not something approximately propping the ears afterwards. Like I reported, in charge breeder might have already docked and cropped their domestic dogs and that they might have healed and be nicely on the way up in simple terms before placement. in simple terms love her the way she is.... btw, the rescue you observed her from might desire to have been in a position to respond to this for you...

People clip the ears and tails on animals because they think it's pleasing to the eye. I don't practice this - I think it's cruel to doc the ears and tail. They were made that way for a reason. To me, it would be like cutting the ears on a child because you thought they were too big.

It makes them look mean. Floppy ears are too cute for a doberman.
