Mr. Atkins died of his own diet. I know a lot about this area. My metabolism completely shut down and I had to find an alternate way to lose all the weight. I went from 222 to180 in the last year and a half and it stays off. Email me if you are interested in the details and education of how to do this SAFE! no drugs, no silly diet scams just simple healthy common sense. Tina

I've done low carb for a long time. The thing that makes low carb easy for most people is that it totally gets rid of cravings. Once you're off the cravings, as it sounds you are since you're planning for maintenance, it's even easier. Here's what I do: Most meals are protein and a vegetable. That's pretty simple. I have a meat or egg protein source, often with some melted cheese, and a vegetable. That's healthy by most people's standards, even those who like to bash low carb.

People often confuse ketosis with ketoacidosis. You're probably already familiar with both terms if you're doing Atkins.

What I did on maintenance is start eating more nuts and fruits which are pretty limited during the first two weeks on Atkins (otherwise known as induction.) There's really not anything else that I've missed. I don't miss pasta or bread. Just add a few carbs here and there and see what it does for your weight loss. But do avoid the low carb bars and things of that nature. They often cause people's weight loss to stall.

The idea is that you can increase to a maintenance level of carbs where you are not gaining or losing weight...that doesn't mean you can EVER go back to eating regular carbs again, as before the diet, and not gain weight...

I used Atkins last year to lose about 35 lbs...nothing else was working for me, but that did...I now keep my carbs pretty low all the time, but will occasionally "splurge" and have some bread, or a potato, or margaritas out with friends...but those aren't part of my daily diet (because when I have too many, here come the pounds again)...

Also, exercise regularly...that'll help keep your metabolism higher and help burn off any excess calories you consume...because even though you are watching carbs, you have to watch calories too...ya can't eat 10 carbs but have it total 3000 cals and not expect to gain weight...

Hang in there...message me directly if you want some more specific info on what's worked for me, the types of things I eat, etc...it's not easy, I know!

You will gain some weight back once you start incorportaing carbs back into your diet.

Here's two things to try. 1. Start counting calories make sure that you eat more proteins than carbs. Slowly incorporate the carbs choosing complex carbs over simple ones The best thing is to eat 10x what you weigh. If you weigh 130 lbs you would eat 1300 calories a day. 2. You should also exercise. If you already are try increasing your cardio workout either in intensity or by days in the weeks. lifting light weights will also help you burn calories. maintain your weight. Try to burn more calories than you eat per day.

as a matter of fact most people on all kind of diets are failing because they cannot continue exercising and getting less than usual calory.
you should not get back on normal amount of carbohydrate if you like to stay lean. So you can increase carbohydrates gradually in one or two months but just something around half of normal.

remember that Atkins team never provide you a defined formula how you can continue with the diet. if you beleive that it worked for you and you are happy with this, you might contact them and pay for a consultation.

sorry if i could not provide you with more information and hope it helps
good luck

First step would be to educate yourself about nutrition. Fat ( Fat tissue ) Carbohydrates ( Energy ) Protein ( Bones and muscle tissue) These three "things" are what make up food. If you want to gain mass, you need to eat above your daily caloric need. You can look up a calculator on the internet to see your daily caloric need. The belly and the upper part of the legs are the main areas where your body stores fat, so don't be impressed you only gain fat there. Your arms are supposed to be made up of muscle, which is why you have arms in the first place - to lift/grab objects, and it requires muscle. If you want bigger arms - start lifting weights and eating Protein. You can see your daily protein need on any calculator on the internet. This will result in muscle tissue production and over time your arms will become bigger. But don't just workout your arms - you need to workout your whole body. Protein rich foods: Meats ( especially Chicken ) Cottage cheese Peanut Butter ( also has a lot of fat, watch out ) Oatmeal - Just bother to read waht you eat on the packaging. And getting rid of fat is the exact opposite of gaining muscle - if you want to lose belly and other fats you need to do cardio and you also need to lover your calory intake. You can't build muscle ( increase mass) and lose fat ( mass) at the same time. Set your priorities.

It is mostly NOT your fault, if you need to lose weight. The way you have been taught to eat is responsible for making obesity the number one health problem in the world (according to Atlantic Monthly magazine) replacing hunger and infectious disease. You need to re-learn how to eat so you can become thin. Not a diet, but diet lifestyle.

Find out about fastest way to lose weight, gradual ways to lose weight, most effective exercise and anti-water. Lose bodyfat and retained water which also makes you a lot fatter (bloated). Plus click on "Pure Water" to make sure the water you drink doesn't hurt you. Most important-- make sure to read the last "fat loss tip", first before anything else, to see the number one food that causes Americans to be fat.

Yes you will and then some. This is not a healthy diet to begin with. It puts your body in ketosis. You should be on a healthy moderate diet that includes all food groups. Try Exchange diet or Sugar busters. Remember....Dr. Atkins is dead!
