If Christians and especially Catholics are supposed to be against homosexuality and for protecting children, then why does the catholic church not have a zero tolerance policy towards their priests raping little boys. Why do people who call themselves christians continue to give money to the catholic church? Why don't the other Christian churches denounce the catholic church for this?

Forgiveness, understanding and compasssion only applies to the pedophiles, not their victims. They should "just get over it" and "forgive and forget." Yet, how many Christians who speak that line actually work in crisis centers? How many of them are at the funerals of men and women who've killed themselves because of the shame of their abuse? How many of them even know anyone whose life has been turned upside down because of childhood sexual abuse? Anybody who says "it's all in the past" has never lived with the shame, degradation, stigma and torment of being violated in that way by someone they should have been able to trust. That is exactly why victims are afraid to speak up. That is why victims go years and years and years trying to not let it permeate every facet of their lives. Because the adults around them who should be outraged and seeing past all the crazy garbage being spouted about "turn the other cheek" are ignoring their pain. Yet, these same people have the audacity to ask why so many people are turning away from the church. Well, the church turned away from many of them a long time ago when they decided to treat small, vulnerable children like their own personal harems.

Hi...

1. Catholic church should have zero tolerance. Never understood why they don't.

2. Most Catholics aren't also Christians. Those that are, however, seem to be leading the fight against these deviant priests however.

3. If you take a look around, most mainstream faiths actually have denounced them for it. It's just not big "news" in our media.

Well, because pedophilia and homosexuality are two different things.

Don't get me wrong, I think pedophilia is a horrible thing, when an adult takes advantage of a child. ANY pedophile, to me, should be locked up, no matter what the gender of the adult and the child are.

So I agree that churches should have a zero tolerance policy for pedophiles. FYI more than just Catholic church people have been convicted of pedophilia, be careful when you generalize.

However, churches should not preach hatred, bigotry and discrimination against gay people. People who campaign against gay marriage and promote bigotry against gay people do not deserve to call themselves 'christian' since these actions go directly against their teachings. WWJD?

Thye do have zero tolerance of this, and they will defrock a priest so convicted. They do not promote this in any of their seminary classes and in fact teach the opposite. The two issues that come up are the forgiveness of sins when forgiveness is asked for and the confidentiality of the confessional. Priests convicted of abuse are no longer priests, but can remain in the church if they ask forgiveness. If a priest confesses in penance, the church grants that confidentiality, and this gets them into trouble. They would not out someone who confessed to homosexual acts, or a murderer, but they would strongly counsel and follow up to work for the right things.

In any large organization you're going to have stuff like that going on. Do you really think that stuff doesn't go on in other religions? In schools? It does, but the fact that the Catholic Church is viewed as having lots of money it's been blown out of proportion. Most of the claims of sex abuse are just people wanting to get money. Mistakes have been made, but that doesn't make the church a bad thing.

Well sir, Catholics are not Christians. To be a Christian you have to believe that Jesus Christ is Lord and Savior. Catholics do not believe that Jesus Christ is the the Savior of the World. For some reason they chose to worship Mary for being the Mother of the Savior instead of the actual Savior. Which actually Catholicism is really just a religion of convenience, not of righteousness. If it were it would believe that Jesus is the way, the truth, and the life, not Mary.

You can not punish all Catholics for something that a few did. I know it is more than a few but you can not punish all for the sins of some. It is not just Catholics who have that problem - they are just the ones you hear of all the time. I know a pastor from an Assembly of God church who went to prison for molesting a girl in his congregation. It happens everywhere. Why? Because we are all human and make mistakes. We expect people who lead us such as religious and political leaders not to make mistakes. They will make mistakes because they are human but I agree that these mistakes are rather extreme for a religious leader. All we ca do is pray for them and keep an eye on our children.

Islam, also the no sex thing I think drives them insane after a while and then you have large problems, plus trying to good i.e. a priest is by default hard because people will tempt them with evil.

Being a holy man is hard because of the fac that people wil test you everyday.

It is sad about what happened to kids in the church if not for the church I would be dead.

Actually being right here has discovered my many individual flaws. I you have to be increasingly humble and sufferer. I have a mood and am impatient with others who do not see the reality however will take a look at to not drive it upon them even though I do fail on this field. I you have to be grateful too in view that God has given me the reward of religion that I didn't deserve, notably the way in which I were residing a couple of years in the past. Just in view that I do not trust every body doesn't suggest I do not appreciate individuals as participants who're adored via God. There is the sort of factor as goal fact, a which means to lifestyles, and a fair method to comprehend a bit bit approximately the age lengthy questions of evil and the thriller of human soreness. Anyway, sure I have plenty to upgrade for myself. I have attempted to do it many exclusive methods however there is not any method round it,I most effective make growth by way of prayer (certainly)
