ok, i'm not religious, at all, but this popped into my head and now i need an answer.
so, you cant use any type of birth control, right, no condoms, no pills.... nothing. is the because it would stop a life from being created?
and if thats why you cant use birth control, then would it be wrong for a male to masturbate? cause then millions of sperm that COULD have formed a life would have... but you killed them

The prohibition on masturbation is two-fold.
Knowledge of sexual functioning was limited. It was felt that a man had only a finite amount of seed, so it had to go where it would do the most good (into a woman's womb).
So, spreading your seed in the air (via masturbation) is a misuse of commodity.
Also, masturbation is a self-love, which mean it is done for sheer lust, and that is out all the way around.
Besieds, your tribe may be a birth away from total annihilation, so, anal sex is out as well.

No, you don't have to be Catholic. Many people who are Catholic are converts. If you would like to become Catholic, all you have to do is contact your local Catholic Church and they can get you in the RCIA class. I would call as soon as possible though because people are brought into the Church during Easter and so RCIA (Right of Christian Initiation of Adults) started not long ago, but you should still be able to join. You will be baptized and confirmed at the same time during Easter Vigil (That Saturday night), it's a beautiful ceremony, I attend that one every year even though it's a long Mass. It's wonderful to see new people come into the Church. Good luck and welcome home! E-mail me if you have any other questions.

The new catholic birth control method is call "natural family planning." It requires restraint.
Masturbation is a sin, because it objectifies sexuality.
Obviously Catholics have to come to terms with their own "evil" nature, and hope God understands as well. None are perfect.
This is one of the reasons why I think many gay people take Catholic hate out of proportion. We're all screwed up to the church, not just gay people.
You're in the biggest trouble if you cannot accept that something you're doing could possibly wrong (impenitence).

Good Catholics should not use any form of birth control. Masturbation is considered a sin, but not because of the reason you stated.

It is a mortal sin to use artificial birth control because of the reason you stated. It interferes with Gods plan of creation.
As for masturbation it is the use of the sexual facility outside of marriage - same as actually having sex outside of marriage and is gravely contrary to chastity (which all unmarried persons are called).
In short, both are mortal sins and should be avoided. Without reconciliation, either one could land you in hell.

Judeo-Christian tradition has taught for thousands of years:
1. Single people should be celibate (no sex).
2. Married people should be faithful to each other.
3. Married couples should welcome God's gift of children and, therefore, artificial birth control was against the will of God. Natural birth control is allowed.
The Catholic Church recognizes the power of sex when it teaches, "Sexuality affects all aspects of the human person in the unity of his body and soul."
Masturbation is contrary to the human dignity of the person, anyone about whom the person has lustful thoughts, and the dignity of human sexuality.
Chastity means the successful integration of sexuality within the person. A chaste person's body and spirit lives in unity and opposes any behavior that would impair that unity.
With love in Christ.

By Catholic teachings, both use of birth control and masturbation are a sin. Using either is not an instant damnation, but both need to be reconciled. Th nice thing is that God forgives, and if we sincerely feel bad about or sins, they shall be forgiven.

Official Catholic doctrine holds that masturbation is a mortal sin, along with birth control.
Few people pay attention to either rule.

This answer is actually found in teh Bible. Please read Gen. 38:1-10. Life is so previous to God, that the act of masterbation (or coitus interuptus) was offensive to God. In this case God slew Onan, the son of Judah, becuase Onan did not fulful God's request to marry adn pro-create with Onan's late brother's wife Tamar.
Cheers
