I purchased a scale over the weekend. Yesterday morning, I weighed myself as soon as I got up and stepped on it a few times to make sure I was getting the same reading etc. This morning I stepped on it and it read 2 lbs. lighter. I stepped on it a few more times just to check the reading and it was the same. How is this possible??

My weight can vary by a few pounds day to day. It's pretty normal. Some people only weight themselves once a week for this reason. If you do weigh in every day, just keep in mind that weight can fluctuate. Try not to get upset if your weight goes up by 2 - 3 pounds overnight.

To check your scale, try weighing dumbells (like 2 5 pound dumbells) to see if the scale gives the correct weight for them.

You don't worry about the day to day weight, just track it and watch for the trend. If you are a scaleoholic, it might be best to just weigh weekly or even monthly. That way you avoid the daily emotional ups and downs.
