With your EU passport you qualify for the Visa Waiver Program. You are allowed to stay in the US for 90 days without a visa. However, under the new USVisit Laws you will need to get fingerprinted and a photograph taken.

No, a French citizen does not need a visa to enter the US for business or tourism for up to 90 days IF he or she carries a passport that includes a a digital photo. A digital photo is one that is printed on the page, not a photo that is glued or laminated into the passport.
If a passport does not have this feature, you can still travel without a visa if your passport was issued before October 26, 2005 and has with a machine-readable zone, or you have an "e-Passport," which includes an integrated computer chip capable of storing biographic information from the data page, a digitized photograph, and other biometric information.

No visa required. Just don't overstay your 90 days, and make sure your passport is stamped when you leave. A friend of mine from the UK entered the US and exited through Canada. In those days the border between the US and Canada was very lax. His passport was not stamped so the US had no record of him leaving. A few years later he showed up in the US again and was stopped at the border. He was not allowed in because it was assumed he had overstayed his visa.

More than likely, you'll need a VISA, but with an EU Passport, it should be really easy.
Find the American Embassy where you're currently located and go in there and get a VISA for entry to the U.S. They can answer all your questions there.
