My dog walks in circles only to his right, he at times is a little wobley on his feet, he drinks as much water as you will let him, and he urinates a lot and he doesn't care where he will urinate in his bed, also just recently his urine has been dark in color?

We have limited the amount he drinks (vets suggestion) to 1/2 a cup of water twice a day and he still urinates a lot we have to take him out every 2 hours to keep him from going in the house he will even go in his crate and for this reason we are afraid to go anywhere because we don't want him to mess while we are gone.

We have only had him for 2 weeks and he is 5 months old. We did get him from a petstore (my husband didn't like any at the animal shelters and fell in love with this one). He had lived at the pet store for close to 3 months.

The vet gave us a major scare this morning when we took him in to be fixed. They called and said they thought it was his liver chunt.

They called back after the blood work was done and it's not his liver, kidneys or diabetes.
They are stumped.
They can't get a urine sample because when he goes potty you can't get near him or he freaks out and stops.
They (vet)!!

I always thought dogs couldn't go to their left? Did the petstore give you all of his records? Someone (i.e. petstore) may not have you told you something. You could also get a second opinion if your normal vet is stumped.

This dog sounds like he may have neurlogical problems. The walking in circles may be a symptom of brain damage of some type.
He could of had stroke or something simmilar.
The drinking sounds like he is trying to fulsh out his system or make his kidneys function.
I would have the vet do a blood pannel to check the function of all his organs. And your vet can get a urine sample they just have to let thedog drink and wait then stand him up and press on his bladder he will go.
This animal sounds like he may have very serious problems and before I spent a ton on him I would find out what is going on.
If your vet has no ideas get him to anohter vet with more experience or more access to more information.
Petstore puppies many times have serious health problems as they come from breeder who do not care about them only the money they can get for them. That is why they tell you not to buy from petstores.

Get your vet to take radiographs of his abdomen and skull. Then get them to refer you to a specialist- preferably at a university or a referral center. Your dog has some problems that an "all purpose" vet cannot handle. They don't see these types of cases constantly and can very easily miss things or not know what to look for. However, get as much diagnostic work done at your attending veterinarian before going to referral to help save some $$$. They might want to retest though. A few things to do
1) Was he like this when you brought him home from the store?
2) Did you take him to a veterinarian of your choosing within the allotted time- usually 2-3days?
3) If yes to both of these, ask your vet to write a letter explaining circumstances, work already performed, further work up needed and need for a referral. This needs to be presented to the pet store before continuing if you want to try and recoup some of your money.
Unfortunately you can probably get ready for a fight with the pet store.
By the way, a liver shunt can only be diagnosed by ultrasound- labwork helps to point the way.

you want to call for your vet fill out an adverse vaccination document. And locate out what variety of vaccines he's making use of at his health facility plus the batch numbers. although in case your vet refuses to fill out the form, call for to understand the emblem, kinds, and batch numbers of each and every of the vaccines given. that's needed. then you fairly attempt to analyze those to make certain if there have been similar reactions in different dogs. likely it replaced into between the vaccines. Vets/authorities organizations/vaccine organizations save adverse reaction comments. even as one particular batch has X type of reports, there's a keep in mind. And your expenses concerning to that vaccine are coated by the corporation in charge. i understand no longer something can make up on your canines's loss. i'm so sorry. One suggestion I easily have is that you analyze vaccine manufacturers, and pretty call for your vet use particular manufacturers on your canines, in the different case detect a vet that makes use of those manufacturers. a lot of human beings believe citadel circumvent vaccines. I also like Intervet. For rabies, Merial makes an IMRAB vaccine that has few reactions (for my area). undergo in options vets are purely shoppers who administer the shot. They order those on-line from a organisation. and some vets purely purchase the most inexpensive one they could get. some use extra filler chemical compounds which may reason a reaction. some vaccines are not even made contained in the states. I purely detect a vet and "grill" them on the form of vaccine they purchase. Then I tell them no matter if I believe that or no longer. i'm so very sorry you lost your canines.

They can get a urine sample at the vet. They can take it directly from the bladder with a syringe.

Coming from a pet store, who knows!!!!!! Something is very wrong!!!!!!!! Go to another vet if you do not get answers where you are.

It could be an issue with the type of breed he is. I would have stuck with the shelter, but you might need to research the history of the dog. Whether there were problems with the mom or dad in the family.

My dog had formed crystals in his bladder and they eventually turned into bladder stones.... that's why he drinks so much water. He's trying to flush his system out. Most of his symptoms were the same as your dog............try to switch his food to a lamb and rice formula......... our vet said it was being caused by the corn in his food.

Have they checked to see if he's had a stroke? That could be the reason he's walking in circles.
