Last week went to the dr cause I was having aches in my groin and they said I had a BAD UTI so I took the meds but none of the proir symptoms went away and now I am having signs of Kidney Infection. (Back/side) pain, BAD neasea and the shakes. Could that be it? What will they do now? The meds I took was the same as what they give for a kidney infection. HELP PLEASE!

He should perscribe you a stronger antibiotic, such as ciprofloxin. I am very, very prone to infections and stones. You could possibly have a kidney stone that you're passing, and an infection is compounding the problem. Stay home until you are feeling better. It would be very, very dangerous for you to drive right now. I fainted several times while passing a kidney stone and was very sick. You could also be having bladder stones. What tests have they done, if any? Do they know what bacteria is causing the infection? Most are caused by the E. Coli bacteria.
You should NOT be given any pain medicines unless they KNOW for FACT you do not have stones. That means they have taken an X-Ray and have done an ultrasound. Stones the size of a grain of sand show up on x-ray if the tech has a clue at all on how to read x-rays. I know it's horrible, horrible pain but if he gives you a narcotic, you may not know if you need to go to the ER. Pain is your bodys way of alerting you of how badly wrong something is.
If you've already been perscribed Cipro, go to the ER. You're going to most likely need IV antibiotics. Cipro is a heavy duty broad specturm antibiotic, I've never needed anything stronger than it for even my WORST infections. Honey I wish you the best of luck. I've been there, done that. Your doctor needs a clue, by the way. Macrobid or a similar drug is a typical first choice for UTI's, Cipro is such a strong drug that it should only be used when a couple others haven't worked or the culture comes back showing a bacteria that cipro should be used to treat. I get REALLY weird on cipro, it not only makes me sick to my stomach but I'm in a stupor, almost like I'm drunk, when I've taken it.

Go to your doctor. You went for the UTI - why are you not wanting to go now?
Honestly, they may want you to have some IV antibiotics, but the proper antibiotic is the only thing that's going to help.
You could also have a kidney stone with those symptoms - so GO TO YOUR DOCTOR! Its the only way you're going to find out what's going on.
THIS is NOT the place to look for medical advice.

They'll put you on a different antibiotic. I hope you can get some rest, I remember my kidney infection knocking me off of my feet for about 3 days. They'll give you vicodin for pain relief as well. Go to the doctor NOW!

You need to get back in to see the doctor NOW. If you let it go, you may end up in the hospital.
Kidney infections are nothing to mess with. You'll need stronger antibiotics (possibly by IV). Make certain you're really pushing the fluids...drink drink drink.

Keep taking the medication but get a second opinion from another doctor. Maybe their diagnosis will differ from the kidney infection.

Go back to the doc, flush your system with 100% cranberry (no sugar) diluted 50% with water. Doc will prescribe some sulfa drugs if your not allergic and some pain medication. Take the pills and juice on a schedule, and take the prescription till its gone. Don't fool around with your health!

I couldn't just sit around and do nothing like my doctors suggested.
They didn't want me to do anything or to take herbs or herbal remedies, but I had to try something - they just wanted me to do dialysis!
This program allowed me to take control of my health. I went from Stage 4 to Stage 3 kidney disease.
It was easy to do and my BUN, creatinine and anemia are all in better ranges.

My cat also cries each time he pees and he pees in the bathtub, not the litter box. Changed his food over to wet food instead of dry and it helped for a week. Bright red blood.
