Some people I've noticed, male and female, seem to be afraid of love... is it because they really fear getting hurt? if so isnt the joy of true love really worth that risk? is it because when you truly love someone you lose all control over that emotion and they are control freaks? If so isnt it again truly worth that? the overpowering joy and sheer happiness of true love is really worth any risk isnt it? I just dont understand why people fear the greatest sence of joy a human being could ever feel...

People fear love because it requires one to be completely vulnerable. One who is vulnerable must give up all control. Giving up control scare the holy **** out of most people.

They fear rejection and/or hurt. Some feel insecure and suspicious about the other person. These people want only permanent relationships, and they refuse to believe that anything as warm as love could be theirs for keeps, too.

You truly do make a great point! I think people are afraid of things that are unknown to them, or are afraid of change.....If I've been single a long time maybe I'm afraid to get involved with someone.

its because they fear becoming too involved with someone and then being betrayed or having them taken away from them and being broken hearted. i dont know if it is worth the risk because it is something i fear and i really have a hard time trusting people.

maybe they fear love because they fear commitment. And it makes sense that you lose control but i don't really know because I've never been in love.
