The weaker ones faith is, the more they will need to have someone else validate it.

I think that every person has some sort of "truth" or advice of some sort that they feel they would do an unjustice not to share. Usually built off of some sort pf experience or life changing event.
although, I absolutley agree that it is very annoying for some people to take this and think that the "right" thing to do is cram their belief down others throats, I would also disagree that knowledge we can get from others isn't woth lending our ear to.
When it comes down to it, We make our own decisions as to what we believe or think is crap, but what really matters is how we can benefit and grow. And with that, wouldn't it be a shame not to share a little of our experinces that helped in our journey with others?

As someone who has often been told that I'm wrong for not believing the way they do, it seems like there are three general camps of thought:
1) It's part of their religious doctrine to save as many people as they can. Their holy works tell them to convert the unbelievers, so they are only following their doctrine (as annoying as it is to those same unbelievers...). They honestly believe it's the right thing to do.
2) They are so insecure in their own beliefs that the idea of someone believing something else scares them, because what if that other person is right? (This is the camp that I tend to think people who refuse to even LEARN about other religions fall into. If your own faith is strong, learning about how someone else believes shouldn't be a threat.)
3) Sanctimonious self-righteousness.

Because everyone feels that their own belief system is the only right one and there are a lot of people out there who never look at themselves in the mirror and see they have a lot of problems. They tend to focus on what is wrong with everyone else. By getting everyone around them to believe the same as they do it validates their own beliefs thus eliminating doubt about themselves.

NO one is forcing you to go onto yahoo answers. No one is forcing you to go into religion and spiritual forums on yahoo answers. No one is forcing you to read the questions that are asked by others that pertain to religious belief or Christianity.
So with all that being said, Just how are people imposing their belifs on you or anyone else?
It is not the people who are sharing the word of God that bothers you, but God covicting your heart and making you take a good long look at yourself.

What group is currently "imposing" beliefs on anyone? If your speaking of the "Religion of Peace" then this is why we are fighting the fight. Otherwise, there is no effort to make a belief system mandatory in the U.S.

Absolutely not, if I really thought my opinion could help I might mention a caution, or an alternative. Seems to me that half of what’s wrong in the world is fueled by “well meaning” people butting into other people’s affairs.

It is an ego thing. People want to believe that the choices they make are the rights ones. So if they can get others to do as they are doing it validates what they already believe, that they are in the right.

selfrighteousness and diminishing or devaluing the other persons worth or dehumanizing the other person as an object rather than a person.
treating others with human dignity is an abstract concept and do unto others as you would have them do unto you, is a phrase of empty meaningless words that get lip service from others with no integrity
