When turning in regular city traffic, the blinker goes off automatically after the turn is made. But sometimes, on the highway, after changing lanes, I forget to turn off the blinker. I don't notice it until I go to exit, and when I turn on the right signal, I realize I never turned off the left signal. I haven't been ticketed so far, but I was wondering if, in the state of Texas, there was a law about this.

Yeah, the nature of forgetting is that you're not TRYING to annoy the person behind you.
Yes, I have been annoyed by others who do the same...but, being that I forget, I get over it.
If it is not against the law, but just annoys rude weirdos, that's not enough incentive for me to try and remember to turn off the blinker.

In some jurisdictions, there is a traffic ordinance for the "improper use of warning or signaling devices". That ordinance may apply. I recommend you check with your local Law Enforcement "Public Information Officer" for the exact definition of that ordinance. I hope this helps.

I don't know about Texas, but there is not a law against forgetting to turn off your blinker in Ohio... I am guessing its the same for most states. It can be dangerous, so try your best to overcome this problem.

don't forget!!! I can't stand when i'm about to pass someone and they have had their blinker on consistently, I'm still wondering if they want to get over or not, and DO THEY SEE ME??? I understand sometimes you can forget, but make a conscious effort, when you are on the highway off ramp, say to yourself, when i merge, turn off my blinker. It really is frustrating to other drivers, isn't it to you when someone has their blinker on going down the road and you are in the other lane wanting to pass, but not quite sure????

Take it to courtroom. If the officer truthfully shows up (not a assure), see if he can tutor which you probably did not holiday the completed one hundred yards. He might- have the skill to do it with pictures from the dashboard cam, yet i may well be shocked if he afflicted to pass lower back and degree the gap of the line, pass-reference it with pictures from the digital camera, and make specific how a great way lower back you have been meant to have signaled. To be unquestionably valuable, they had choose to get a site visitors engineer to make those measurements, and it would probable value them greater advantageous than $149 to do it). in case you may get a attorney (there are some companies that focuses on site visitors concerns), much greater perfect. The evidence you have isn't precisely conclusive- police do have discretion as to whilst they are in a position to grant tickets, so as long as you truthfully did something incorrect, you won't be ready to get out of it in line with discrimination, in spite of the incontrovertible fact that it would not make him look too good the two.

If there was a law against forgetting , I would know. I am guilty, only because the blinker on my truck is broken. I know, I need to get it fixed. If I see someone who has obviously left theirs on by mistake and its obvious, I will try to get their attention by blinking the right, then the left, back and forth . This usually works and I know they appreciate it, I would.

Under most traffic laws, intent is not necessary for conviction. I am sure if there is a state law that requires signaling, then doing it improperly would be a violation. It would be like giving a right hand signal if you were turning left. Most states have a careless and imprudent requirement.

I don't know if there is in Texas, but in most states you should turn it off because you could cause an accident. Having your turn signal could make other people behind you angry. but everyone forgets sometimes.
God Bless!!

When a cop pulls me over the first thing I do is tell him I hate him and call him a pig. so, they'd probably charge me with something like "recklessness endangerment" and throw the book at me. But if you thank him and compliment him, he'll probably let you off with a warning.
