Well you can plainly see that it doesn't keep prices down, just look around you. Y E S !, it keeps the minimum wage down, that also is quite evident.

It only allows the rich to get richer; 'The big fish to continue eating the little fishes.'

It keeps costs down.

If minimum wage actually worked then we should raise it to $10,000 an hour that way we could all be Millionaires. There are several things the concept of Minimum wage fails to take into account.

1. Their are always going to be jobs in any economy that don't pay well enough to support a family on ( particularly by american standards)

2. When you give an employee a raise when the employee is not increasing the employers income ( producing more widgets, providing better service which gets more customers). Then the Employer has to charge more for his/her product or service. Thus it's more expensive to live for everyone, including the person who just got a raise. So in the end it does not increase the employees buying power.

3. Everytime minimum wage is increased it cause some jobs to be on longer worth paying the person for. That's why there are almost no full service gas stations anymore.

The only people minimu wage helps are people who belong to unions who have thier sallary attached tot he minimum wage. But most of these people make far more the minimum wage and it makes no sense to give them a raise which causes everything to cost more for eveyone else.

It may keep prices down in theory--but if you have a lot of people who can't make ends meet by working in low paying jobs--then more people go on social programs--which we ALL pay for. If working Americans have to pay for social programs to help out those who can't make ends meet on a low paying job (and this isn't about illegals, there are plenty of legal people who work for low wages) then our buying power goes down, thusly the economy goes down because it is tied to consumer spending. Corporations scream they can't make profits if minimum wage goes up--but they don't pay the price for social programs. That is off the sweat of workers and their high payroll taxes. People should have the right to support their families--even poor people.

they must have skipped gas prices, cuz they don't seem to be down. a gallon of gas is more than half the price of minimum wage. hmm.... the prices r going up everywhere. but sure it does keep poultry, meat, produce, even the cost of flowers somewhat down mostly cuz they r lower paying jobs. so its both.

working for less than minimum keeps all wages down. incidentally, every time minimum wage goes up, thousands of low income workers lose their jobs.

Neither. It enables people without education and work experience to get some experience so they can move on to better jobs. The cream rises to the top.

I hear the Democrats want to offer a small token this coming year-attached with their own agenda (as always). Worthless.
