Cost is not an issue. This will be coming from someone who lives in the Chinese countryside, so the solution must be as easy as possible since their access to shipping is limited. For example, is there a way to buy Chinese stamps in the US and fix them to a self-addressed envelope? Thanks for your help!

If you only want a letter back acknowledging the receipt of your package, buy an International Reply Coupon at any U.S. Post Office. These are good for a standard (about 1 oz I think) letter sent from anywhere in the world to the U.S.

If you need a package sent back, you'd need a rate chart and also need to know the weight of the package. Some stamp dealers might be able to sell you Chinese postage stamps that are still valid for postage, but without knowing the weight and rate, that won't help much.

To find a stamp dealer in your area, go to www.stamps.org and follow the links to "dealers."

Warning - Chinese stamps may have a limited period when they are valid. I'm not sure about that - it was true a number of years ago. So be sure if you buy stamps to get very recent ones.

The only way would be to go through American Express or DHL. There is no way to arrange this with the local postal authorities, especially if they are in the countryside.

What you need to do is create a DHL account. All packages can be sent through your account, so that the person sending does not need to pay for anything.
