Take a Fluency Fast class (http://www.fluencyfast.com ). In a week, you will learn to speak so much more than you ever imagined! I just took a Mandarin class and after about 7 contact hours, I wrote a page and a half story of readable Mandarin (not the characters, but transliterated, and I had previously had zero knowledge of Mandarin). After 13 hours, a girl in my class (with NO prior knowledge of the language) told a story and spoke for about 2 minutes on it. Not 100% perfect, but very understandable with minimal errors. There were also classes going on in Arabic, German, Russian, French and Spanish and I witnessed the same thing from each class. Since I know French and Spanish, I can tell you that the people who told the stories in those languages did an excellent job with very few grammatical mistakes.

Oh, and it is fun and VERY low stress! You learn by hearing stories and answering questions about the stories.

Go to France, but don't go to a large city like Paris where most people can speak English, but a remote village where you're the only English person there. Then you'll have to talk French. Amusez-vous bien!
