Some people worry about getting sea sick on cruises, but the ships being built and used these days have automated stabilizers which minimize the rocking. The larger ships cut through the water so easy that you don’t even feel like you are moving. When there is bad weather the cruise lines will steer around and away from it, sometimes changing the order of port stops.

There is no rolling or pitching on the cruise ships because of the stabilizers. I have been through rough seas on Royal Caribbean and the ship bounced up and down slightly and rocked a bit, but not enough for anyone to get sick. We were all running around the ship having fun. It was a bit like walking when you're drunk, but it wasn't scary at all! We went through a thunderstorm later that night and I slept through it.

we went to the Caribbean last winter on a Princess ship, sometime the seas were running over 12 feet, and there was absolutely no roll to the ship.
however if you stood on our balcony and looked forward toward the bridge you cold get a sense of how much pitch there was.
the ship was very comfortable., i really liked laying out reading a book on the back near the bar.

I cruised the Caribbean on the Radisson Diamond, one of the world's three catamaran cruisers. The ship hardly moved whatever the weather.
