But if God loves us so much, why does Hell need to be eternal? Wouldn't a loving God be willing to forgive us after 100 years of torture, or isn't that enough. Intead of just replying that we make the choice, I'd love to see some Christians answer why God created an enternal Hell, when he had lots of other options.

Judaism teaches that there is no eternal punishment.

Jesus was Jewish.

Paul had believed in the Greek religion of his time.

Greeks believed in Hades, a fiery place of torment from which there is no escape.

Paul never met Jesus but took over Christianity.

Paul either composed or edited the entire New Testament.

Early Greek and Roman Christian church leaders liked the idea of having total control over men's souls. The threat of Hades to keep their sheep obedient to them was very appealing.

There ya' go.

You choose where you go by the choices you make here. The only thing you can take with you when you die is who you are, and that doesn't change after you die. If you are a good christian here- that will go into the next life- if you are a criminal here- that attitude will follow you into eternity. When you get there you will want to live with the people you are comfortable with- if you are uncomfortable around people who live Christ like lives here then how will you be comfortable with them there and vica- versa. This may sound wierd, but God has laws he has to follow too- and there is Opposistion in all things- hence the Heaven and Hell scenario. If he just forgave and and sent us where he wanted us to go then he would be taking away our free will.

From what I understand, he loves you no matter what and you have a choice to follow him or not. Just as a child has a choice whether or not to obey his parents. You must have punishment of some kind to discipline your child as does God. You can say you are sorry and be saved, if not he isn't going to beg you to love him. Just as if your child wrote you off as being their parent and didn't want anything to do with you, you can't make him talk to you or love you. You have to live your life without them as painful as that may be. If you don't wish to go to heaven you have to go somewhere and Hell is the place where those who don't love him go. He is a loving God or we all wouldn't be sitting here right now. All of us are sinners, but he loves us and wants to give us a chance.

Hell is not a place of eternal punishing, it is is the palce of eternal punishmentment, i.e. eternal separation from God. The word hell translated from Hebrew Sheol (literally means the grave); translated from Greek Gehenna (literally means the place of destruction). Please read Ps. 146:4, Eccl. 9:5, John 3:16, 1 Cor. 15:12-18 and 2 Peter 3:9.

God Bless

You are asking for a finite answer to an infinite question.

It is something like this, you tell your child that the fire is hot, they have two choices to believe you and stay away from it, or to not believe you and touch the fire.

If they touch the fire, the results are forever, the burns the scars and such. Even as their parent, you cannot say OK, I will take away the scars in ten years, you will have learned your lesson.

Heaven and Hell are that type of choice. No turning back from that kind of choice.

i've got pondered this too. ok, what if each and each determination and action on the quantum point creates yet another universe, in simple terms so we've an countless tree of recursive universes that God knows thoroughly and on a similar time. Now think of your self as a dot that intensity-traverses via this tree. ok you have gotten determination, in spite of the incontrovertible fact that would not God omnisciently comprehend which path you will take, making your alternatives not greater significant than His prognostication? good, an option you is created at each and every quantum cut back up, so as which you in simple terms get to choose for on which 'you' to be. may well be a number of those branches reconverge (inspite of what innovations you're making), as what may well be extensive-unfold as 'destiny.' So countless 'you's can exist in quantum superposition, all interior God's skills, besides you opt for upon which quantum state your relative fact collapses into. in elementary terms a handbook. it fairly is the single physique of innovations i'm going to have the skill to think of omniscience and loose will coexisting. unfortunately, if it fairly is actual, the main terrible evils and countless tortures are inevitable to ensue to each and each unit of interest in the multiverse.

God is our heavenly Father and just like our earthly parents give us punishment for doing wrong and it has time stipulations, ex. being grounded for 2 weeks, our heavenly father judges us and our life and if we have not excepted Christ into our hearts, and turned away from sin then we shall spend an eternity in hell (punishment for disobedience). God is a loving God, that is why he forgives our sins and forgives us over and over again, just like our parents love us and punish us to make us better people, he wants to make us have a better soul. Think on a grander scale for the overall picture, giving glory to God.

You answered it in your question. If you choose Hell you go to Hell. If you choose Heaven, you go to Heaven. You have free will. The only way you can go to Hell is to reject God and Heaven. Hell was not so much created by God, because Hell is the absence of God.

Not everything is easy.
Heaven has to be earned.
There are eternally bad people.
He gave us a choice. What more do you want.
He gave us free will.
Now we use it to make our own personal choices.
You may get a chance to find out with that attitude.
