People always say you have free will to either follow the Bible and be saved or to not and be damned. Cut and dry - very simple. But really it is not so simple - I think authorities enjoy this simplicity.

Back to the Tree of Knowledge. If God wanted a bunch of follower automatons then why even have the Tree of Knowledge? I see a paradox trap.

I always wonder if we have missed the point because I see consciousness growth thru the Bible. I see Moses bringing the Ten Commandments and the Israelites who had no internal self evident truths with which to govern themselves by. They had to spend 40 years in the desert (isolated and co-dependent) for them to internalize these truths. I think Jesus was bringing new self-evident truths to the people. Jesus tried to liberate as many as could and some made the leap - but if you notice, most of the Israelites went back under the fold of the Pharisees after the crucifixion. The rest were just left waiting for Jesus to come back - then they found Paul (who never met Jesus - had a vision) to become their authority.

All else I can say is use your brain - contextualize as much as you can. Try to be open to even the most closed minded folks because you will see answers as to 'why' while exploring their constructed mental/emotional prisons.

Knowledge is power. Jesus is love.

You are only tied to these rules if you choose to follow them. Otherwise you have the free will to follow whatever belief is in your heart.

u got it wrong. there is no hell. a God of Justice would not send humans who live some 80 years on earth to burn in a firely pit for all eternity! it's not logical. the Bible says what he will do with wicked people. And when it's reffering to Sheol or Hades- it's talking about man's common grave. Even w/ Adam and Eve, God knows what's best for us. He put them on a paradise earth to enjoy, but they sinned. I think he knows that we would enjoy the same even tho we might not think we would.

We have free will to choose what we will believe. There are no set of rules that we must abide by. Believe in Christ and what He did for the world, and everything will follow suit. If you believe in Him and understand His sacrifice, you want nothing more than to please Him.

I would assume that someone who has free will but who "behaves" anyway has accomplished something positive.

If you were just a puppet, doing the right thing would be easy.

I doubt very much if you are tied to anything. If you were a christian you wouldn't be asking such a foolish question.

It was written by a bunch of guys who consumed a loaf of bad bread and scribbled down all their hallucinations.

God gave man freewill for him to decide for himself. the bible was intended to be a guideline from which to model our lives after. the church decided which books of the bible for us to be allowed to see in order to maintain control over men. some books were hidden away for men to never see. he has shown his hidden word for no man can hide the word of God for long. his word is also in our hearts, we just have to bring it forward to our conciseness. he is all, and all are we. we are all part of God and he is part of us. we are one with the Godhead. blessed be to all.
