I'm gonna guess that you are talking about Microsoft Word.

If that is the case, then look at the top of the screen along the command icons. One of them looks like a backwords capital letter "P". It will be highlighted. Click it to shut that off, and the spaces will appear as spaces again.

The backwards capital P is called Show/Hide, and if you can't find it along your command toolbar (where you'll commonly find icons that mean Print, Save, etc), go to the far right until your cursor hovers over "Toolbar Options."
Show/Hide can be very useful if you are doing something that needs specific formatting, like a resume (CV) or article/novel for publication; some employers or publishers are particular about how many spaces appear between sentences, etc. I just find it annoying. Hope that helps.
I also assume you are talking about Microsoft Word.

It sounds like you have the formatting marks turned on. You can turn them off by the toolbar by clicking the paragraph button (sort of looks like a backwards P with an extra lind) or you can go to Tools => Options -- then click the "View" tab accross the top. Under "Formatting Marks" clear the check boxes you don't want to see.

Your keyboard may be broken, or just really dirty. If possible, swap out with a new keyboard and see if that does the same thing. If so, you may have hardware problems with your PC.
