My question is- are you stretching? These exercises sound really hard on your lower back. Especially if done wrong- make sure you ***keep you butt up*** when doing push ups and the sit-ups... well those- you might try doing like crunches instead- start from the floor and don't go all the way down. I think it's probably your push ups though- don't be offended or anything it's something I see all the time.

I have been religiously exercising since my freshman year in high school (7 years ago), and if you do things correctly, you will not have any aches or pains. You may have done something incorrectly and irritated that part of your body.

Also, if you overwork one part of your body and don't build up the surrounding areas (for example, doing tons of sit-ups but no lower back exercises) you can strain your back because the muscles are not strong enough.

could be you are just starting to feel the burn or you could be getting some back problems
push ups try using 3 chairs 1 for each hand 1 for your feet and then go down farther
