Okay, I am not gay- not that there is anything wrong with it- I am just curious as to the fact that if God felt as strongly about it as some of the Christians I see here then why didn’t he make it a commandment?

The 11 commandments just didn't have that nice ring to it.

The real reason is that homosexuality is a natural thing that can occur in any culture, religion, even species throughout the world... Apes, lions, tigers, bears, dogs, cats... all of these species have documented cases of homosexual behavior, they just don't have bible-toters and self-righteous people breathing down their necks about it...

And someone tell me that whenever a question of faith comes up to a christian they spout scripture that has no bearing on life today...

That is a great question. Let me start off by saying that you are not alone in this line of thinking nor are you alone feeling confused about the churches view on this subject. The reality is that homosexuality falls under the same category as adultery/fornication. It is a sin, yes, but we are not to condemn anyone to hell because of this sin. If a man sleep with a woman outside the guidelines of marriage it is the same sin. Because any type of sexual activity is prohibited, outside marriage between a man and a woman in the bible, than that would include homosexual activity being outside the will of God. Remember sin is sin. One does not out way the other. We all have to answere for the sins we have committed in the end. To take it even further , can a man or woman be born Gay? I believe the answer is they can be born with that tendency through original sin. We are all born in sin through the fall of Adam and Eve so that very well could be one of the sins that we are born into. That doesn't mean we give in to our lustful thoughts weather gay or straight. The word of God says that we kill off our flesh daily so that we may walk in the Spirit of the Lord. That means remain with the mind set that all thing concerning even the natural have spiritual consequences. Well I hope that this answers you question. God Bless you.

That's a good question. God put Eve here because he felt that Adam need a companion. Now if he would have thought that Adam needed a male "companion" I think he would have put EveBob here instead of Eve. He speaks a lot about knowlege, and fools.

Corinthians 11;8-9
8-For the man is not of the woman; but the woman of man.
9-Neither was the man created for the woman; but the woman for the man.

Doesn't make much sense to me, but I've read other parts of the bible where it obviously, cleary says that homosexuality is wrong. Doesn't really effect me.

stirring the pot are we? homosexuality is mainly considered wrong because of the text about Lot, but it refers mainly to sodomy. I highly doubt if 2 people are in a serious, stable relationship that doesn't violate any other biblical principles, that god would punish them for that. But the bible does refer to marriage as a union between a man and a woman. Can't get around that any way. It's sanctifies the birth of a child. But with morality the way it is today, who waits to get married. Just because most christian leaders preach against homosexuality, doesn't mean that God looks at it the same way. But the body is a temple and alot of deviant sexual behavior stems from the use of drugs or drink. I doubt the man that cheats on his wife after he gets messed up is less worse then a man that gets messed up to have sex with someone who has no morality. Ever noticed how many sexual encounters with either sex often happens because the person was buzzed? Now there are alot of homosexual people that have been in loving relationships that don't fit into that description, they just feel more comfortable with that particular sex. I'll never believe that gay people can't be attracted to the opposite sex ever, just that they may never trust the opposite sex, or for other reasons, feel attracted enough to be heterosexual. I played with barbies with my sister, I felt out of place as a child, loved make up and wigs(much to my father's disapproval). But love is a complex and difficult thing for anyone to comprehend, I happen to find happiness and fulfillment with my wife. It isn't a commandment because you aren't a bad person because of who you love, but how you love them. The disciples were jealous of the kisses(some say revelations) that Jesus gave Mary Magdelene, so jealous that one of the most dedicated apostles was deemed a prostitute to diminish her as an authoritive figure. To me, that seems kinda gay.

People need an excuse to judge, gossip and hate others (isn't there a commandment about bearing false witness?), so gays are an easy target. Mind you, some people in the church have no trouble saying that God doesn't mind if they divorce and re-marry (a certain TV evangelical woman with gobs of mascara comes to mind), or if a preacher says that his country should assassinate a leader of another country (another TV evangelist comes to mind).

People love to sound like the voice of God. Plain and simple, and if they don't like something, who better to involve than God?

When you love the Lord with all your heart, you seek Him. You try to be more like Him. You worship Him...He is your Savior and Lord. You study His word to lean more of Him and His will for you. By reading the Holy Bible (His Word) you see that there are many things identified as sins that are not directly elicited in the 10 Commandments (the Law), like sensuality, drunkedness, etc. Homosexuality is a sin, but specifically identified as an abomination before God.

Since the Law does not directly specify all sins, what does the Law do? The purpose of the Law was to show what man needed to do to be righteous. Neither the ancient Jews (evidenced my the need for sacrifices to atone for sins) nor us today (Rom. 3:23) are righteous...we are all sinners. The Law, therefore, shows our need for Jesus...He was the only one who lived a sinless life. He bore all our sin when He was unfairly mudered on the cross as a sacrifice - the final Sacrifice once and for all - for us. He was sent to us by God the Father, who loved us first - even as sinners (John 3:16). To have eternal life, be forgiven, and keep from being judged by God by the Law, we need only to put our faith in Jesus Christ as our Lord and Saviour...its a choice...simple yet life changing.

Maybe lwe should go deeper. In the 5th commandment,Honoring parents and choosing a spouse
Older commentaries speak about the parents' task with respect to their children's courtship and choice of marriage partner. Often there is conflict between parents and children regarding dating and marriage. In the past, the influence of parents in this choice was far greater. Although we don't have arranged marriages today, parents do have a say about such a serious decision in their child's life. Children must not see it as strictly private matters beyond parental control. Parents do have a right to be involved in the choice, especially when they see their child take a wrong spiritual turn in dating. Children honor their parents by accepting correction when their parents warn against making wrong choices (eg mixed courtships). Even if the parents are wrong by not accepting a proper partner.

6th Commandment:You shall not kill. Most AIDS patints are homosexuals.

7. You shall not commit adultery.A Still Wider Field of Vision. Yet the seventh commandment cannot be restricted to the act of adultery. Jesus teaches us that in Matt.5: 17,28. Not property, but sexuality is the subject of this commandment — principles for sexual relationships. Marriage is an institution of God. The participants of marriage are man and woman. Some, such as Plato, have argued that humanity originated with an androgen and that we should understand the duality of man and woman as brokenness. Modern feminists want to ‘restore’ the brokenness by downplaying differences — hence homosexuality and bisexuality are encouraged. Male or female is a result of nurture, not nature. God is also a He/She. Yet, we must submit to Scripture and to God who said "It is good" about Adam and Eve. The harmonious relationship between man and woman was broken because of the fall. Men and women were to rule the world together but with an order of rank: the man functions as head.

Scripture condemns homosexuality in Lev.18: 22-23 and 20:13 along with Rom.1: 26-27. The argument that Leviticus is forbidding cultic homosexuality holds no water. Why is there no forbidding of cultic heterosexuality? Secondly, it is the homosexual act, which is forbidden, quite apart from its context. Romans 1 teaches us that it is ‘against nature.’ What nature means here, as opposed to 1 Cor.11: 14, is determined by the context — creation. The punishments for homosexual behavior have changed, but the moral culpability has not. A person with homosexual desires is not by definition a homosexual. So long as he or she fights against them, they are with all others fighting the good fight of faith.

10. You shall not covet your neighbour's house; you shall not covet your neighbour's wife, or his manservant, or his maidservant, or his ox, or his ***, or anything that is your neighbour's. That includes wife, husband, son and daughter.

The bible says if you break one of them you have broken all ten of them.

it is not a commandment, but God does speak strongly about it. And there is even the whole Sodom and Gomorrah thing with Lot. So it is still VERY important that you are not gay. However, I believe you can be gay AND still be a Christian, but your morals would be totally screwed up.

FYI Niguyona, most patients with AIDS are NOT homosexuals. Look at the current statistics. But they still get chastised by the likes of you, evidently.

Anyone who calls themselves 'christian' and then preaches against gay people is at best a hypocrite and at worst a bigoted, discriminatory hate-monger. These actions go completely against all teachings. WWJD?

Just another inconsistency in that most inconsistent example of mythic literature, the Bible. How long do you think until people realize that a book written by men who didn't even believe the world was round, much less that it orbited the sun is NOT the best possible guide for living one's life?
