Well, technically, people burp in all cultures. I assume your question is why it is more acceptable in some cultures than others.

Every culture has its own individual positives and negatives. In American culture (and many other ones as well), burping is considered rude and disgusting. However, in some, it is considered very polite.

Japan is a good example of this. Burping is considered a compliment to the person who cooked the food. Have you ever heard the phrase "better out than in"? The person's appreciation for the food, expressed by burping (often loudly) and re-tasting it, is a compliment, and very polite.

In some cultures, you are not supposed to suppress your body's natural expressions. As a result, farting and burping is acceptable.

Why do people burp, any where? It's rude. And such people hate it, when someone looks at them, after the burping.

Everyone does it, it is a normal function of the human body. It is a way of releasing trapped air.
