I think a lot of people - the agnostics in particular. They tend to think hard about the proof offered for the existence of God, and try to come to some sort of understanding about it.
Many people have closed their minds to the existence of God because they've had bad experiences with organized religion. Either they've encountered it directly and had bad experiences (I see a lot of ex-Southern Baptists, since I live in the South), or they see what it's done with regards to starting wars, and they don't want any part of it.
I don't think that many people would agree to apply the same rules we do to the existence of aliens to the existence of God, for this reason: in order to know that there are aliens, people want actual, irrefutable, physical proof. What they mean by proof varies, of course - some people think video footage is good, some people think it's a hoax or a meteor, etc - but they all want it. God's existence if more of a matter of faith. People who don't believe in God are far less likely to think that stigmata, bleeding hosts, or miraculous cures are evidence of God. So we end up at an impasse. Aliens are a matter of science. God's a matter of faith.
However, I think putting those same principles to work in both is a really interesting idea. The only question: people need to open their minds more. But if they would, imagine what we could accomplish, both as scientists and as people.

According to what is written in the OT, the recordings proclaiming him as the only God are contradictory. (i.e.-I am a jealous God'-jealous of what?; 'Let US make man in OUR image-the NT states he's refering to angels but going even further into it, there are contradictions between the two that prove they're really not the same)...nevertheless, a god who presided over the Middle East and had his followers record certain events very well could have existed but there are plenty of religions that pre-dated Xtianity and religions from unknown territories (unknown to the people of that region) have no mention of a singular male deity pre-occupied with the Middle East...
I haven't really heard/seen anything about aliens other than some people claiming well-studied and researched scientists can't recognize whether an object is a weather-balloon and are imagining things and plenty of people (some educated, others not) that claim to have seen something aerial that couldn't be explained by anything we know on earth. I personally never have but I don't see how I could say some other person hadn't.
I heard somewhere that you can't prove a negative. Obviously, contradicting theories/statements can cast doubt.

To re-state the case for the skeptics:
We do NOT believe in a god, or gods, because we have never been offered, nor have we encountered, any proof of their existence.
It isn't a question of "seeing." I don't "see" electrons, but I can adduce their existence from other empirical evidence and processes. Furthermore, if "aliens" actually existed, they would be just another life form - and I already know life forms exist. Gods don't fall into any category my senses or intellect can access - we can't find ANY evidence for them.
So there might well NOT be any aliens. But that would be a statement like: "Bananas don't grow in the tundra."

Aliens, much like Bigfoot and Nessie, fail to generate much credibility as, contrary to what some conspiracists might have you think, there is thus far little, if any, valid evidence to demonstrate the reality of their existence. God, along with all the other primitive notions of supernatural agencies, likewise fails to stimulate much enthusiasm among thinking people as there is no credible evidence to demonstrate the existence of such a being either.

There is much that we still don't understand, regardless of what scientists and/or religious leaders tell us. Is there life on other planets? No one really knows, but logically there almost has to be. Are they here? Again, no one knows and this time, logic makes it more difficult to believe, since it would involve travel at speeds faster than light. Possible, though. As for God, logic tells us that something (or someone) created this universe, or else everything is only random with no purpose or reason.

Why compare aliens (if they exist) to God?
If they exist, it's only because God created them.
Aliens, if they exist, are mortal. God is not.
Aliens, if they exist, are not all-powerful and all-knowing. God is.
Aliens, if they exist, are in many ways probably like we are -- they are biological beings, who may or may not have intellect. God is way above that.
Not a good analogy there, no offense.

that is a hardship-free misinterpretation of Christianity, that guy "created" God purely to describe what we did not understand. i imagine you'll locate that many Christians do not bury their heads contained in the sand concerning technological understanding, (though some admittedly do). Photosynthesis, chlorophyl, even organic selection are all factors of technological understanding and maximum haven't any situation believing in them. Abiogenesis on the different hand remains a grey section; i have study thrilling clinical articles that communicate scientist's concerns with the common sense in the back of the large Bang theory, in which some now propose there have been quite a few "bangs," rather of one huge one. the point is the beginning of existence remains unknown... None of this disproves the life of God or devil besides the undeniable fact that, yet Christians favor to the thanks to open their minds to gaining expertise of what technological understanding has to educate extremely than operating faraway from it.

If god is an alien and didn't create the earth, I might go for that.-lol
But it's more likely that ppl developed on earth, than a god, just developed himself with magical creating powers.
Sorry, I got to go with logic on this one.

Because people think that they can physically "find" an alien. But God, you can search and search high and low, but you will never phyically find Him. That's why faith is believing without seeing.
