i know the Bible says it's wrong, but since God points out what is best for us. it would make sense that if God really thought it was wrong it would be for a reason and not just because God is omnipotent and can do whatever he wants. So my question is why is it wrong? who does it hurt? and why doesn't the APA agree?

Heatmizer, the reason for the STD's is sexual promiscuity, thats heterosexual and homosexual promiscuity. the reasons for the murders is probably the bigotry caused by the Bible which means if the Bible didn't say homosexuality is a sin people wouldn't kill homosexuals and there would be no reason for the Bible to call homosexuality a sin.

Alexander S, the Bible is fallible too. Genesis 1 and 2 contradict each other, genesis 1 says God created animals first and genesis 2 says God created man first.
and thou shalt not kill because in killing you harm someone, it is obvious to any logical person that killing is harmful, but the same is not true of homosexuality.

williamzo, there are ways that a female body can complement another female body and a male body can complement another male body,
and that it doesn't create another generation argument only works if everyone becomes homosexual, which no one is saying is a good idea, and besides the Bible condemns individual acts of homosexuality which would not prevent another generation

Leviticus is from the Jewish bible. So what do Jews say about homosexuality?
Interestingly, neither the Torah nor the rabbinic tradition has much to say concerning lesbian relationships. It is the male's "spilling of seed" anywhere other than in the usual "place" that is seen as a sin). There are those, not all, who believe that the traditional laws against homosexuality originated in a more ritual context, since, for the most part, the word "ABOMINATION" was applied MORE IN THE RITUAL SPHERE OF LIFE than the ETHICAL.
The Torah seems to see homosexual relations in a cultic context rather than something more parallel to the interpersonal context of heterosexual relationships.
Regarding the sin of Sodom and Gemmorah, later Jewish tradition, including the Biblical prophets, makes no reference to homosexuality in this context and see the sins of Sodom and Gemmorah as cruelty and lack of hospitality to the "stranger" - xenophobia, as it were.
Reform Judaism seems to view the traditional prohibitions against homosexuality as mores from a bygone age, mores now replaced with clearer understandings of the reality of gender orientation as something which is beyond simple individual "preference."
Certain references to homosexual men in the bible are now interpreted to mean men who are prostitutes; it's the prostitution that is considered the wrong.
As a whole, the Reform Movement, both the "lay people" and the rabbis have come out very strongly in favor of civil rights for gays and lesbians.
In the NT, Jesus talked a lot about adultery but never bothered to mention homosexuality. However, Paul tried to drag the custom against homosexual acts into Christian dogma. Paul, who never even met Jesus, was a misogynist and most likely a closeted gay.

People take the bible literally way to much. You have to remember that it was written long long ago. Did you ever play a game of telephone, where one person seays something and pass it down a line of people, by the end the thing that was said has been changed so many times, dont you think that it is possible for that to happen in real life? Homosexuals are normal people, they just dont like the sex and relationships that "normal" people do. Its just a prefrence, I also remember god loves everyone and everything, does this not include gay's? Did god love hitler, or stalin? The people who think homosexuality is wrong are narrow minded and think that there is only one way to get through life, live your life by the book. Life is too short to worry about if you are making god happpy, just make yourself happy and god should be happy for you.

When the Bible was first written, people didn't live very long, there was a lot of infant mortality, many diseases, war, and many other reasons why the population wasn't growing very fast. In addition, the Jewish people were very particular about marrying within their own race. So, anyone who wasted seed, whether by masturbation or by homosexuality, was commiting a crime against the future since they were not contributing to the future of the race. That is the beginning of that particular phobia. Of course, since the Bible simply says that it is "an abomination", people today just go without question, just as they do with everything in religion, and never stop to see that times have changed.

God feels it's wrong because he made man and woman for each other, but because of sin nature , some people have the urge for a man and man, or woman and woman, even though God doesn't agree, and satan is just trying to get people to believe its perfectly ok and not wrong, and it's obvoiously working, and God also made sex, it was supposed to be a good thing, and it is, but of course that was corrupted too and so people get aids and stds, if you think about it, and if everyone followed what the Bible says, just as far as sex goes, there would BE no stds because everyone would've only had sex with one person, the one they decided to marry... But remember God does not hate gay people as some might say, in fact he loves them, He just hates the sin their committing, I can be friends with a gay person, but they know that i dont agree with what they're doing, but they don't really care....

I think that it's not wrong, and I'm a heterosexual, married woman. If your body is chemically attracted to those of your own sex, wouldn't that mean that it was created that way? Hence, it's supposed to act in that manner, so why would a loving god condemn what he's created? That's just one of many flaws in the Christian religion that made me find something more fitting to believe in. It seems that part was one of the things that was added in because the culture of the time condemned it, not because it's actually something wrong to do. Notice that the Bible and its strictest adherents also condemn music and dance, two of the primary forms of human expression. Even tone-deaf (and deaf-deaf) humans get the urge to make music, and as it doesn't harm anyone, why should it be considered wrong?

the APA changed its mind ... they used to say its a problem and now say the opposite... dont use a fickle measure like the APA
I wonder how many people realize the incredible high value the bible puts on marriage between man and woman. In genesis 1 the creation is called good 7 times, a work full of angels, animals, mountains stars and wonders... and one man is made ... and the first NOT GOOD ... in recorded history... IT IS NOT GOOD FOR MAN TO BE ALONE... and then out of adams wounded side Eve is made... and the entire creation is called VERY GOOD because of one couple hitched in the garden
It is porbably because it is also a picture, a glipse of the relationship of Chrst and the redeemed, the redeemed are made from Christs wounded side at the cross and sex is a glipse of the eternal relationship of the redeemed and Christ. Just as a 3rd grader cannot grasp sex because it is beyond them we cannot grasp how wonderful it will be between Christ and the bride of Christ as we embark on the great adventure of knowing and leanring more of God, worshiping him more and more the great adventure that will last forever and never grown old

One verse in the Bible is 1 Corinthians 6:9 through 6:11 It alaks of who will inherit the kingdom of God. and tells of not only homosexuals but also male prostitutes. And then when you go to Romans 1:26 It also lists female homosexuals and prostitutes. In fact If youread in Romans from 1:21 through 1:32. it really gives a good description of all sin not just homosexuality. Briefly itiis telling how they thought they were wise and became fools and given over to the depravity of the mind to do the unthinkable and the shameful lusts of their body. It is very indepth please read for a full understanding.
Sometimes If we truly accepr God as our saviour we need to just accept his word as law After all without Him where would we be or would we be. I know God tells us it is wrong just like killing , coveting , adultery, making graven images to worship, etc. If you believe the ten commandments then you should believe and accept the rest. I mean look at what he did to Sodom and Gomorah. You can not ask anyone there what thye thought about God. all that is left is a smll plume of smoke coming up out of the ground even today.
I hope this helps please read what I looked up for you.

The Bible doesn't spend much time on that topic and if they really wanted to say that they have to follow every rule in the Bible, then they shouldn't be eating pork either. Folks pick and choose what they want to accept. Homosexuals make Xtians uncomfortable because they want to say traditional family values (as they were in their idealized version of the 1950's) should guide how we think about relationships. They don't like that the world is changing and complex and would rather everything be simple - right or wrong.

It is wrong because it goes against the grain of what God ordained sex to be used for. God made homosexuality an abomination because it was patterned for shows of true love between man and wife and for populating the planet. If God allowed that "which is unseemly" to be part of His plan for sex, then it wouldn't have been necessary for Him to create several of the covenants he made with man in order to help him purify himself through obedience to God's word. There would be no clarity for mankind between right and wrong in the spiritual sense (except involving beastiality) if it were ok for men and women to be homosexual or bisexual. Heterosexuality in the bond of marriage is an example of a covenant relationship with Christ.
