Dave, a common problem. You do not indicate your weight which could be a factor. I do not believe in many of the drastic suggestions in some of these answers - a natural course of action is preferable - at least initially to see if it helps.
Loose clothing will allow more air to circulate across your skin and reduce perspiration by evaporation. The material of your clothing can make a difference too - light cotton materials are the best, man-made fibres the worst. Avoid plastics such as in trainers and belts - leather is best for the latter, and either leather shoes or cotton-material casuals (loafers).
Avoid using aftershave or perfumed products on the skin. Avoid drinking alcohol or carbonated drinks - the body's natural reaction to foreign 'bodies' such as these is to excrete them via the liver or through the SKIN.
Remember, everybody sweats (ladies perspire!) its a natural bodily function. In hot humid summers, we all sweat more. If you believe there is more to it than that, have a chat with your doctor - he may be able to offer some medical advice. If you have a weight problem you should consider reducing your weight, but some people do have a medical problem of sweating that can be treated successfully - without surgery! So don't worry about the problem as stress will exacerbate it - just see your doc.

For a start, you are supposed to sweat when you are hot. However, the greater the humidity, the more you sweat. It's been more humid in the latter part of the hot spell than at the beginning. If you try any treatment to prevent sweating you will not cool off so quickly.
The main thing is to wear loose clothing. Avoid any tightness anywhere. This wide sleeves are better. Boxer shorts are better.
Sandals are better with no socks.

Its not natural, really, but botox can be used to stop excessive sweating. Your body rids itself of toxins and controls body temperature with sweat, so I would leave it alone, maybe carry a sweat towel.
On April 15, 2002, the FDA announced the approval of botulinum toxin type A (BOTOX Cosmetic) to temporarily improve the appearance of moderate-to-severe frown lines between the eyebrows (glabellar lines). BTX-A has also been approved for the treatment of excessive underarm sweating.

I saw something on TV where someone had hyperhydrosis like you. She went to the DR and had minor surgery (a small slice aboout 2 inches) and they clamped a nerve in her arm and the sweating stopped within minutes. Have you tried that stuff called Certain-Dri? You put it on at every nite at bedtime. Don't shave before because it burns like a Be-atch. It will help with the sweating if used correctly.

if you have an office job, try fixing a small fan to your desk.... you could alway carry around a small bottle of water with a mist attatchment and spray your face and neck or body with that for a quick, refreshing cool down. Alway wear anti-perspirants, even if they dont work for you, they still help with any smells! Wear light and airy, cotton clothes..... not much else i can suggest.

it is possible to train your body to not sweat as much.
I know a guy who did a trek to the north pole in 2000 and he spent 6 months training his body to not sweat by walking up and down mountains pulling a fully loadd sled whilst wearing a string vest.
The reason was that in the arctic, if you sweat when you have your gear on, it freezes onto your skin and potentially kill you.
How this helps I don't know but it certainly proves that it is possible. Dunno about hot weather either, I've been having 2 showers a day in the past week, totally unbearable!

There are deodourants and there are Anti-perspirants.
Anti-perspirants block the sweat glands so you should stay dry, try the sport version from Sure

Sweating if your bodys natural way or cooling down. Maybe keep in the shade, drink lots of water.. generally just try and stay cool.
if not, see a dermatologist*, the people who specialise in skin. You could probably get an appointment with one by asking your doctor.
*I think its dermatologist anyway... Sorry if it isnt.

Shower everyday and use talcum powder when you get out. Plus anti-perspirant (it must at least help a little). If that doesn't work go to your doctor he'll be able to suggest something.
