Question for Muslims re: reverting to Islam.....?

Let me say first, I'm looking for answers from Muslims . Please, all the bigots need not post nasty comments. I'm very Muslim-friendly and have a sincere question about Islam, thanx.

Okay, here's what I don't understand. From my understanding, Islam says that when people become a Muslim, they "revert" back to Islam because they were born Muslim. How can a baby be a Muslim when s/he has no idea what's going on? What does it mean to be born a Muslim? Babies don't know anything about Islam, just as they don't know about Christianity. Catholics baptize their babies, but the babies don't know what they're doing. They also believe in Original Sin, that all babies are born with a sin on their souls. Ridiculous, yes, no baby sins. Either way, whether bad or good, both Original Sin and being born Muslim don't make sense to me if a baby knows nothing.

Can anyone please explain?

Why they say reverting is because Islam is the true religion and the only REAL religion that exists. Every human is born muslim and yes, no baby sins. When a child reaches the age of maturity then all of his sins are counted. Allah has born us muslim. If a baby lives in a christian household and dies before maturity then he has died a muslim and will go to heaven... by the way,where are you from? I'll make this short. Basically, in Islam we believe that all people are inherantly good, and when you're born you are innocent and are going to have a natural tendency to believe in and obey God. However, people become bad or deviate from Islam. As such you go away from Islam, but revert back when you convert because you're going back to trying to obey God.

We also believe that there is no original sin.

the reason all babies born into this world are Muslims is easy. you need to understand what the word Muslim means. Muslim means one who has surrendered to God. therefore, all things in nature (trees, the sun, the moon, the grass, the animals, the wind, the plants, the angels, etc.) are Muslims as they are all surrendering to God's will. Babies also are Muslim by birth, but their parents alter their identity by baptism or whatever other ritual to change their religion. because only humankind has freewill, we can choose to surrender to God's will willingly and become Muslim. everyone eventually surrenders to God's will, but those who do so willingly will be rewarded for it. this is why being a Muslim is the most natural think in the world. By the way, the world Muslim means surrender to God's will and God's peace. God Bless!

well when a baby is bor they r young and cant make their own decission since msulims believe their religion si the only true one(just like ev other religion thinks theyrre the only true one)we believe that Allah will make ev muslim until they grow up and become mature and decide wwhat relgiion they will foloow most of the time pl dion decide bcz theyre born into a family wiht a such and sucj religion and they were taight to believe tghat that religion is true even sometimres ppl do believe theyre relgion is inacurate but they r afraid of what theyre family may do.

Being a Muslim means being totally mastered by your Creator. Every child has got the natural pure faith when it is born. If it is left alone, it will recognize its only Creator, but the parents affects the child's belief when the child is grown up by making him believe he is a christian, pagan etc.
