I have a close friend that is a boy. I tell him almost everything and he doesnt never tell me anything about him. When I need help with something or is feeling down he always is there for me. I want to also be there for him too but he never want to tell me stuff. He only tell me the basic stuff. I been knowing him for 5 years and still really dont know nothing about him. Hes always happy for the 5 years I knew him I never once saw him get mad and nobody ia always happy. He tells me that he dont really let things bother him thats why he dont get mad. Is it because im a girl and he dont want to express his fellings to me?Hes about to be 19.

men don't need the same kind of emotional support we do... at least they try to put it that way.

i had to deal with the same thing. then one day, he just opened up to me and woah... i was blown away with some of the stuff he had to go through.
just be there for him, and let him know that you ARE there.

good luck, hon. (c:

They just don't work like that. Guys consider sitting silently in front of the TV or playing video games while yelling at the screen to be "bonding time." Some guys open up more than others, but they just aren't usually inclined to sit around talking about feelings or problems. They like to fix things, and if they're going to mull over a problem until they find a solution, usually they do that on their own and not with all their closest friends like girls do.

Men are simple (and I don't mean that in a negative way), if he tells you he doesn't let things bother him, then that's how it is. I suppose if something really awful happened, he'd tell you about it, but until then stop worrying about trying to get him to open up and be thankful that you've got a friend who listens!

Men think it is weak to show their worries or fears to another person. Sometimes they fear we'll tell someone else. They've been taught that they are the strong ones. Of course it isn't true, you get stronger by opening up and sharing your difficulties! Bottle things up and one day it'll all burst out and you'll end up hitting your children or you'll get physically sick., or have a nervous breakdown (if things have been really bad in your life!)
It's nice that he's there for you. It probably makes him feel close to you. But you could feel closer to him if he trusted you will his problems. (There ain't a soul alive who hasn't got any!)
