Take some benedryll, use ice packs, if the swelling doesn't go down in an hour,or if it starts to affect your breathing or swallowing, go to the ER. After you're feeling better, let your stylist know that you had this reaction, so this type of dye won't be used on you again. Good luck, feel better soon.

First you should try over-the-counter antihistamines such as benadryl. (If you need something minor that will not make you drowsy you can try claritin or loratidine). If you have results within the first hour of your initial dose then you can repeat 25mg of benadryl every four hours. You might want to also try to combine that with an anti-inflammatory medicine such as one of the many forms of ibuprofen (advil, motrin, aleve) for swelling and discomfort. You should absolutely seek medical attention immediately for blurred vision, swollen throat or difficulty breathing. If the above at home provides little to no relief then you will most likely require a short term dose of anti-inflammatory steroids from your primary care physician. It is always safe practice to do an allergy strand test as recommended before applying any hair color and your beautician/stylist should have offered such. Be sure to obtain the brand and necessary information from the salon for your future reference.

When in doubt go to the hospital, esp if having trouble breathing.
Generally if it is allergic reaction, you can decrease the reaction by taking an antihistamine. Allergy relief stuff for hayfever would work.

Go to the doctor or the hospital. You could have more damage than you can see or more than you think. Also let the salon know.

I highly recommend you call your family dr or go to the hospital. This does not sound good.
