No more than the benefits to being Catholic, or Baptist, or Taoist, or Buddhist. It is just a different set of beliefs.

Benefits? Well I think that people should really follow their own hearts and brains and see where it leads them. If they are atheists, then that is what is true to them. Personally I find the benefit in not feeling guilty about breaking rules set forth thousands of years ago, many of which have little relevance to today's society. Just the fact that I grew up in a very Jewish neighborhood makes me feel bad about eating pork. I can't even imagine if I actually grew up with religion, then I'm sure I'd feel guilty about many other things.

Many catholic people always feel guilty about having sex... they do it, but they still retain some "catholic guilt". I would find it very upsetting to feel guilty about something so natural to our biology. I don't think animals every feel guilty about it.

Another benefit is not having to attend any church or boring religious rituals. Granted, some of them are fun, but many are just tedious and boring. Instead of wasting my time praying for people and being in church, I find that I can go out and actively help people... there is much more time to be a productive human being when not reading the bible over and over again or attending church every sunday.

Also, being an Atheist allows me to keep my mind open to new scientific discovery and theory. I don't immediately reject new evidence or postulation because it violates my already firmly-held beliefs about God.

Those are some benefits.

There are very few really:
- Super low low tithing expenses
- More sleep on whatever day they call the "Sabbath"

More importantly:
A fearless attitude re science and knowledge. We don't give a hoot what Genesis, Q'uran, or Book Of Mormons say - science rules! And we're fine with being wrong on ANY theory. This translates as intellectual freedom.
As an ironic gift for our skepticism, I believe were are also uniquely endowed with the ability to appreciate spirituality and morality outside of the stifling confines of prehistoric dogma.

There aren't any significant benefits that I can think of to being an atheist... especially in regards to peace & love.

As a matter of fact, you should look through Y!Answers at the questions & answers posted by atheist towards people who believe in God. There is nothing but hate, blame and ridicule. In general, atheists seem like cynical bigots to me.

You get to sleep in on Sundays and you get to save money since you arent giving it to the church. And you dont have to believe in a book that to be honest is very cruel and evil and contradivtive. Luke 14:26 if any one comes to me and does not hate his own father and mother and wife and children and brothers and sisters, yes and even his own life, he cannot be my disciple. now thats some kind of love. Another benefit is not having to have false hopes that there is life after death. another is an atheist doesnt go around starting wars over religion.

The main benefit is the same as the benefit of nonbelief in the existence of leprechauns. You avoid the internal conflict that come from trying to believe something that deep down you know isn't true.

Why not believe in leprechauns? Doesn't it sound nice to have a shot at finding that pot of gold? Who wouldn't want it!?

The atheist cannot enjoy peace and love because he/she is without Christ. Only Christ can give peace and love. The so-called peace and love of this world is a facade that quickly fades away into hate and misery. Jesus loves you.

It's not a benefit versus disadvantage kind of thing...spiritually there is no benefit greater than any other across the religions or for an atheist...we all believe what works for us, or search until we find it...
