There are many lies floating around about Islam and Muslims. This is because ignorant and racist people & media want to label all Muslims as being the same as the terrorists. They even invent lies about the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him), The Kaba and God Himself, saying Allaah is a moon god?!?!? And somehow these people claim to know more about Islam than Muslims?? In fact, they are the most ignorant of all humanity!!

Are you able to see past all of the lies and propaganda against Muslims who have nothing to do with terrorism and want peace like everyone else? Or have you been brainwashed. Negative answers will be from the brainwashed. Thanks in advance to the truly open minded and open hearted.

The reason I am not open to any information about Islam from non-Muslims is because I have spent years studying many school of thought on Islam which are rooted in truth. I reject any offerings of supposed historical fact from false sources. It's silly to think a non-muslim can teach a muslim about his own religion. that's like a blind person trying to teach a pilot how to fly.

Some great answers so far. p.s. The Islam I was taught and follow promotes people of all faiths to live in harmony with each other. Islam teaches me to live in peace with Jews, Christians, Hindus, Pagans, Buddhists, etc. I think here in America, we can practise our religion and live peaceful lives. Islam does not teach us to be aggresors, but to defend when we are attacked. Otherwise, the religion is about getting a healthy spiritual connection with God and living with good manners amongst all people.

This happens with all religious organization... People take the minority of bad things to focus on and ignore all the good and positive things...

Unfortunately there isn't much we can do about it... believe my I've tried...

There are terrorists in all faiths. The state of Israel's Military manuvers are nothing more than American-sanctioned terrorism. The acts of our President and his cabinet against the women and children of Iraq is terrorism. Raising the security level to orange when your approval numbers drop is terrorism. All are non-Muslim.

The fact is, there are terrorists in all cultures. Timothy McVey was a white-bread Christian--that didn't stop him from his devistation in Oklahoma City that killed many innocents, including children.

There are Christians, Pagans, Muslims, Jews, Hindus, Wiccans, Buddhists (and more), who are peaceful and want to live on this planet in peace with one another, and then there are those who are fundamentalist jerks (Pat Robertson, Osama Bin Laden) who want to use their religion to provoke war and stir hatred.

Muslims aren't any more dangerous or violent than anyone of any other religion--but many live in a part of the world where rockets and bombs are blasting apart their HOMES every day. Now tell me--if a bomb destroyed your home and killed your children, what do you think your reaction would be? The people of the USA were just as angry after 911 and had our enemy been just over the next hill, many would have picked up rocket launchers just as quickly.

Labeling all Muslims as terrorists is uneducated. Likewise, Muslims need to understand that while theirs is a valid religion, there are other religions out there too, and there is room for all of us on this planet--though I think you'll find that the terrorism committed is less about religion and more about revenge/retribution because they have lost so much and the middle east is a violent, war ravaged place.

My 2 cents
(I'm Pagan, not Muslim, Christian, or Jew)

P.S. People of ALL faiths need to research the history of their Gods and their dogma, rather than listening to the words of those whom they PAY to interpret it for them.

I would agree with you that there are peaceful Muslims, in fact I know several. The basic problem is that there are Muslims killing Christians and imposing Sharia law on people all throughout Africa, there are Muslims beheading Buddhists in Thailand, Muslims fighting in East Timor, Muslims blowing people up in Afghanistan, Iraq, Israel, Bali, Saudi Arabia, Indonesia, India, Turkey, Russia, and all over Africa, all in the name of the moon-god Allah. Not only that, but the killing of Van Gogh's grandson in Denmark for making a film about Islam, the riots all over about the stupid cartoons, the honor killings of women when they are raped, and on and on. When all of this is happening, how can you call people's reaction to Muslims the result of brainwashing? Brainwashing requires that you make people believe things that their experience tells them are false! Our experience IS that Muslims ARE very violent and that it is very easy to justify violence with Islam, and that when Muslims commit horrible acts of outright murder, like on 911, the Muslim world dances in the streets, and there is no loud outcry from the Muslim community at large. Thus our opinion is not the result of brainwashing, but the result of putting two and two together, many times over the last 30 years. A person would have to be blind not to see such an obvious pattern.

With the West being predominately Christian, the views of this group will be over-represented. What I don't understand is how Muslims killing for their religion is because they are "brainwashed terrorists" and Christians burning down abortion clinics is because it's "against their religion".

Politicial correctness is getting out of control but, when it comes to religious issues, semantics are important but are exploited to tell the people watching that "they" are something different to "us".

It's a shame but it's the way of the world. People don't want to understand things they disagree with.

I don't think I've heard much bad about Muslims at all. The terrorists are extremists and I think that the media that I watched said that they misinterpreted the teachings of Muhammad.

Unfortunately, anyone from the middle east (or who looks like they came from there) is under suspicion. This is thanks to the terrorists and is only a result of people being wary of their surroundings and unsure if the terrorism is behind us. It will go away.

I believe most muslims are peace abiding citizens, who want nothing more than to live in their own country in peace. But I also think that they need to help themselves to maintain this peace, by recognizing the troublemakers amongst them, and do something about them. Too many people have died in the name of (god). Which goes against all of our beliefs, whether u believe in mohammed, god, jesus christ or budha. These terroist stay in power by intimidation, and its time for regular people to rise up and stop them. They need to stop these terroistic clerics who are nothing but wolves in sheeps clothing, using the name of god for their self serving beliefs. I agree that the press is a big factor in alot of peoples belief as to who or what muslim people are. They only print the bad news, they dont show the good we as americans have done or the good the people of Iraq have done either. The terrosrists are the ones they love to write about. What about the good things that happen?

your major premise is that anyone who disagrees with you has been lied to and therefore anything they say is automatically false. therefore, there is nothing that I could possibly say to you to get you to change your mind. by definition you are close-minded.

that being said, if you look at the Historical records, the name of the moon god in the city where muhammad grew up was allah. that is historical fact with as much evidence as anything else that muslims believe, and more evidence than some.

"Negative answers will be from the brainwashed?"

Just because someone does not agree with you does not mean they have been brainwashed. You have a very closed mind and that is part of the problem. People can agree with you or not, that's their choice. And you need to be accepting of different cultures and opinions.

If you truly want peace, you have to want it not just when it appeases YOUR way of life.

Mustafa-please read two books-"The Liberated Palestinian" and "Islam Revealed" by Dr Annis Shorrosh. He was born and raised in Nazareth. He holds two earned doctorates. This man exposes the truth about Islam. Read his books and then come back and say what its the truth.
