My winnie dog had six puppies and at night she will carry it in my room and feed it there but when everyone is up and around she forgets about it and tends to her other five.

She doesnt forget about it. She probably thinks that since it's so much smaller than the others that it won't survive, so she tries to move it away, in case it dies, that way it wont attracted predators that could injure her other young (i know they are inside, but this natural instinct). My weimaraner did this and we lost 2 of her 12 puppies. Take the teeny guy to the vet and ask about getting formula and bottle feeding it until its a little bigger. Hope he makes it and that the mother will accept it back!

Make sure the runt is getting enough food. She might be trying to be selective about feeding the stronger 5. Animals will sometimes take a pup or cub that they don't think will survive and push it out of the nest. Then they just take care of the stronger ones. Good luck with your puppies

Your mommy dog is taking care of the puppies she thinks will make it. When she takes the puppy to your room, this is only so the mommy can be assured that the runt is getting enough food. A mother dog will always tend to be closer to puppies that are not runts.

Natural Selection. The runt is the weak, doesnt want the trait to carry on so its left to die. Same reason why birds kill the weakest of their young and/or the strongest pushes the weaker out of the nest.

she may be trying to make sure her smallest baby gets enough food.
make sure it gets enough food and that the mother doesent just leave the pup and reject it.(try to get her to stop seperating them as it may leed to rejection)
after the other pups have fed allow the mom to have some more one on one feeding time with the runt and move the other pup away and distract them so that mom can feed the small one. also you could get formula and top the pup up.

It being the runt, it probably requires special attention. It probably can't feed when the others are around. Sounds like she is just taking care of her baby.

That's weird and sad -- sounds like she doesn't want the short one to steal food from the others... nature is cruel once again.
