Your just not supposed to open them until you get home. Also, the limit in most states is .08 BAC so you can still buy beer at the gas station and have a few while driving around and still be under the limit and not intoxicated.

Because most states also have an "Open Container Law." That is, you can not have an open container of alcohol in your car.
(How else would you get beer, wine and other liquor to your house? Do you want it delivered like pizza?)

not in the state of Michigan you can either sell beer or gas but you can't sell both. It does kind of make sense. or weirder yet states that have drive thru liqueur stores

Buy it and then GO HOME! Or maybe you can catch a ride to buy it! You don't have to drink and drive to buy alcohol.

not a dumb question. they even give you the paper bag to wrap it in. like look at me I am hiding a drink....lol. never see a soda wrapped in a paper bag.
