Call your friends & family at home and keep up with what's going on; then you won't feel so distanced from them. Also, if you find fun stuff to do in your new area, it'll take your mind off of missing everyone, and you may start liking where you are right now a little more!

After 38 years of living in my home town, I went to live with my BF. I've been here almost 6 years now and im always home sick where i lived was much cooler than i am now, but there is no love there, all my family moved else where etc etc.. I visit web sites of my home town. you will never get rid of it you just have to live with and remember. and think about what you have now. and things always change.

It can take a while but homesickness does pass. It can last up to a full year.
The best way to overcome it is just get busy with every day life, get to know others and find ways to enjoy the place you are in.
