Why, after being given a bath, does a dog run around like it's crazy?

And what is with a dog who is obsessed with licking the face of the alpha dominant male in the house? Is she looking for acceptance? Does she think she is cleaning him???? Is it just a subserviant thing?

Dogs go wild after a bath because you've stripped them of a vital part of their essence as dogs - their smell. So naturally they've immediately got to go roll around and stink themselves up again. And it's also relief that they've managed to survive yet another horrible water accident!
And licking the face IS a signal of subservience.

Dogs run around like crazy because they want to get dry and the only thing they know how to do is run and roll around on the floor. And as for the licking on the face I think they just love you that much or they think your face tastes good or they want to get the dirt off of your face.

i think dogs get excited because they were trapped and having water poured all over them. so when they get let go they are happy. also try rubbing your dog all over the way you do when you wash them without actually doing it. they gat excited about the attention.
about the licking im not really sure.good question though.

because dogs don't like to get wet from baths unless you pamper your dog like no other.

My ex-dog used to do the same thing. I think they're just relieving stress the only way they know how. I dunno about the licking, I seem to remember something about wolves.
