Is that a trait that is taught? Learned? Or do people know it's wrong but do it anyway?

I do not believe that anyone would teach their child to have total disregard for other peoples property. I do believe that some people do not have regard for their own property; and thus this becomes "learned" by the child. There are a percentage of people who know that it is wrong; but do it anyway; just because they can. This could be attributed to a combination of irresponsibility, and lack of good judgment. It is the same type of mentality (or lack thereof) which some people use when they drink and drive. They know that it is socially unacceptable, but they do it anyway. Society tends to spend a great deal of time condemning younger people for not being responsible; we probably need to be spending more time looking closer at the adults who are the "teachers" of the youth.

I think some people are so self centered they do not even think about something belonging to someone else. All they can think about is their own wants and desires. Is this a learned or inherited trait? All babies are very self centered all they can think about is their own wants and desires, so it is probably a person who has not fully developed out of their id stage or at least retained some portions of it. Parents probably do have a hand in this as a child that is spoiled or catered to would seem to tend to think this way as opposed to someone who was not raised this way

Sounds like your parents going through your room maybe? If that is the case, then you have to know you have no personal property. I can and do search my daughters room at any time. I did not use to feel that way, but after living with addiction, I learned quick that it was alot better to try to keep her alive than some abstract right to a kids privacy.

They probably were not corrected when they were younger, so they never learned to respect others and their property.

They also don't realize that just because they are the center of their own universe, it doesn't mean they are the center of everyone's universe.

Because some people do not appreciate the value of anything. They have not had to work for anything and therefore do not appreciate how much it costs, etc.

Don't worry, there is always Karmic Retrobution!
