if your vet said the kitten didnt have ear mites- and wasnt too concerned with the black stuff- why are you bothering to find a remedy? just leave it alone- if this was a concern i'm sure vet would have giving you something for the ear.

Find a new vet!!! If he told you no ear mites, but did not offer any other information he is an idiot. I have never had this problem with any of my cats. Never even heard of it. I suggest finding a better Vet for answers and not go with simple answers from us. Your cat is too important for us to decide.

I've tried ear wipes from Petsmart. They work well on my cat who only gets wax in one ear. They are really just a cloth with witch hazel on them so I started to use a cotton ball and witch hazel from the drug store. Simba doesn't seem to mind at all!

Try peroxide on a cue-tip. Tea-tree oil might help too. In the least it will help to clean the ear up.

If it were just dirt or wax buildup one cleaning should have taken care of it. It really sounds more like mites than anything else, I'd have them looked at again

Try baby oil on a cotton ball that's what a vet did to mine but not too much. wait till older for other stuff (recheck for mites again later)
