That would be interesting. They have more people, so in a hand to hand battle, they would probable win. Plus, we never fight wars in our own country so in the jungles of China, it would be another Vietnam. Now, the only thing that would give us any upper hand would be the arsenal of bombs we have. We also have some aircraft carriers outfitted with some nasty bombers.

It would be a long war, I could tell you that. It is almost impossible to decide who would actually win though.

Plus, after a war like that I am not too sure I would want to be on Earth at all. I doubt much would be left. It wouldn't stay a war between the US and China, other countries would be brought in. Most likely a WW3.

But, right now there is no reason for the US and China to go to war so, there is really nothing to worry about.

China would lose - big time.

The huge manpower resources that are China's only advantage will be irrelevant because they are stuck inside China's borders.

China's economy depends on imported oil - something that the US would cut off the moment a conflict started. Not only that but a conflict will cut off all of China's imports and exports - not only will this shut down their economy, but other nations will take over China's markets. When the war ends China will discover that other nations are selling the same things they were.

China's entire nuclear arsenal is vulnerable to destruction by the US nuclear arsenal while they cannot destroy ours.

The only real choice China has for getting past our missile defenses is to launch every missile they have. This is an act which would effectively disarm them - and allow the US to force them to choose between unconditional surrender or the destruction of their country.

In fact the Chinese strategic nuclear forces are also vulnerable to conventional attack by US forces. (Bunker-buster bombs dropped from the stealth bomber.)

And China has another huge strategic problem that they brought on themselves. Twice, Chinese military/government officials have expressly threatened a US city with nuclear attack. This creates a logical scenario for the US to attack China's ICBMs with depressed trajectory launches from our missile submarines at the moment it becomes apparent that we will get into a fight.

One interesting thought is that a conflict between the US and China will result in lower oil prices because China will no longer be buying any.

Excuse me; the USA's economy is more heavily reliant on imported oil than China. China has nuclear weapons, and a huge manpower base. The US forces are better equipped but they couldn't take down such a huge army.
China also has so many people it wouldn't care how many died defeating the US, if the US tried to invade I don't think they'd hesitate to deploy a scorched earth policy like the Russians did in WW2. The US would find itself like the Germans fighting the Russians; better soldiers and equipment, but not enough supplies and too many enemies.
China would win.

Militarily, USA would win. Economically, neither would win. I would have to look up latest stats, but I think it is 60%-70% of everything we buy is made in China. Can you imagine what would happen to our economy if 60%-70% of all store shelves in the U.S. were empty? That is one war we should avoid if at all possible.

it doesn't matter who wins its who loses. And everyone loses in the end. If I really have to anser this question though, I think it would be evenly matched, but then again I haven't looked at the latest data on the two countries either

There are at least five country's that would, if they could, attack the US. Any one of them, by themselves would be annihilated if they were to try. Therefore, it is my belief, these five country's have an agenda to destroy the US, collectively. Those five country's are: Russia, China, N.Korea, Iran and Syria. Given the latest information out there, one has to wonder, on which side Pakistan will line up on.

The US has attempted to counter balance the nasty agenda of this axis power, with one of it's own. A few country's we hope to rely on, in the event of a "knock down, drag out", are Japan, S.Korea, Australia, Great Britain, India, Israel, Taiwan and hopefully, a few others. To say that even these country's would stand behind us, remains to be seen. One can only hope!

China by much!! We don't have the capability. We spend too much on technology and too little on troops, who are going to win wars, unless you want to nuke everyone. Then we can all bend over and kiss it goodbye!

A full war between those two would lead to so much destruction that it would be totally uninteresting to determine a winner, the whole World would lose.
