They probably ARE that way at home. Or maybe they figure if they don't have to clean it up, they don't care. These are the people, and there are far too many of them, who seem to think they're the only ones who matter and have absolutely no consideration for anyone else. They're the same ones who will hog two parking spots, leave their grocery cart behind someone else's car, etc. They're selfish, lazy pigs.

They may be this way at home. They may not be. It's hard to say. But when people are out like that, they do figure that someone else will clean up after them. It's disgusting. I worked at a place for 2 weeks. Thank heavens it wasn't more. The 2nd or 3rd night I was working there, the supervisor came around and asked the women who were just recently hired to come into the training room. She then proceeded to chew us out about the state of the bathroom. Needless to say, it was disgusting and since they didn't know who did it the whole group was held responsible. I can't blame the supervisor. The things some women did in the bathroom was absolute repulsive. The worst part is, these women were all grown adults.

I can't understand it either. I think it is because people are not raising their kids to be conscientious enough. America could stand to learn from a country like Singapore that has stricter laws of cleanliness. I'm not going to hold my breath for that moment to come though. In the mean time, I will not sit on a public toilet seat unless I have gone over it with a soap and towel. I won't touch a door handle on a public rest room - I use the towel I dried my hands with.

Maybe they are that way at home. Manners are quickly becoming a thing of the past...such a shame...I was raised to believe that manners are just a way of showing respect for the other person or people. The other explanation is that they don't have to clean it up so why should they care? No respect for the person whose job it is to clean up after those slobs.

Because at home, people have to clean up after themselves, so they're more careful. At restaurants, who cares...someone else will be along to clean up.
We went out to east last night, too, and my two kids (28 months and 12 months) made a pretty big mess on the floor/table, but I always clean up what I can. (Larger chunks of food, dropped napkins, etc.) I also tip better when my kids are with me because I know I can't always clean up every little crumb. :)

I agree! People can be slobs. As for WHY, I guess they don't have the sense to realize someone else has to pick up after them, or they don't have the decency to care.
I live on a fairly busy street, and sometimes have to pick up bottles, cans, papers and other trash people throw out of their cars. What is wrong with these people? They appear to have no concept of being considerate of others. the world is their garbage dump.

I see the same thing ever day in the cafe I work..and my conclusion is..they behave that way because they don't care about other peoples property. It`s not there´s,so why bother being careful or tidy. They think the staff have nothing better to do then clean up there mess. That is what is the staff is getting paid for in there eyes.

That's the reason why I eat out. Get over it. Now go get a vacuum and clean up after me. P.S. I really love it when they give me corn bread and I smash it into a million little pieces.
