This happens to me too. One thing that helps me is before I blow dry my hair I put a straightening cream in it. Then it is a little straighter and is more likely to stay straighter after I use a flat iron. You could also try using a straightening shampoo (which never really has worked for me though) or try different products until you find one you like.

You can go to a salon and ask for them to Permantely Straighten..I know you said you didn't want me to say that, but that's basically it. I also have curly hair, but I straighten it by myself. There's also a lotion cream you can put in your hair after you straighten it so it stays straight for up to 8 hours. You can get this kinda product at a salon.

It happens to me too, what i do is straighten it at nigh time. Then go over it in the morning and it stays straight. If you straighten it, and then straighten it again by going over it again it should stay straight. There are also straightening products that you put on your hair before and it keeps the moisture off your hair so it doesn't curl again.

Permanent will not happen... Genes are permanent and if your genes call for curly you will ultimately be curly again.
You can get a relaxer, but it isn't permanent. It will definitely help for a period of time.
