I currently own a 49' trawler and am making plans to cruise it full-time for several years. The desired cruise would start in January 2007 in Texas and continue into Mexico, Central and S. America, Trinidad, the Islands and returning to Florida. I am looking for an experienced cruising partner or couple to share this experience and some of the expenses.

I would appreciate suggestions and ideas on how to locate people who would be interested in such a trip, are knowledgeable in all aspects of blue water cruising, plus possess the right character traits (honest, flexible, adventurous, responsible, easy-going, etc.).

Also, I would appreciate any comments regarding specific experience, knowledge or traits I should be looking for in a cruising partner. For example, I am sure that speaking spanish would be a desireable asset.

I suggest that you contact associations of people who like to sail. If he was not so old (he's in his 70's) my uncle would probably love to go along. He's an avid sailer and ocne sailed in a race from SF to HAwaii and came in second place.
