The word, 'Bible'
comes from a Greek word Biblia which means, "books".

John 11:35 "Jesus Wept"

773,692 words. It would take you 70 hours to read the whole
Bible aloud.

And the Old Testament was first written in Hewbrew.

The Bible is the most widely published book in all of history, but it is actually a collection of 66 books. The word Bible comes from the Greek word biblio from which we get the word bibliography....

The shortest verse is John 11:35, "Jesus wept."

The O.T. was originally written in Hebrew....

It is a book. A Holy Book. The shortest verse is "Jesus wept" found in Hebrews. It is the only book that has been on the best sellers list since it was written.

there are many different versions of the bible that have been published (i.e King James, New World Translation, etc) so there is no way to tell you how many words are in it. I've seen a verse that just has a dash ( - ) in it, so I wonder if that can be considered the shortest. but the answer above me knows his stuff, so I concurr with him.
