All we have to go by is the writings of a bunch of long dead men who want us to conform. My gut tells me, life was hard for them then as it is now.

After Jesus rose from the dead, He sent His apostles out into the world to preach the good news of Jesus. They did, and Christianity spread throughout the land.
If you want to know which churches were formed, Google an early AD map of the area, get a Bible and open it to the Table of Contents. Each book that Paul wrote was to a different church already formed, their names make up most of the last part of the New Testament. There is just not enough room for me to tell you how each church was formed.
If you meant what happen to Jesus, well, He ascended, but no one really knows the time period between His rising from the dead to His ascension. Some books say years, some simply don't mention it.
But the early Christians were persecuted by the Roman soldiers, and the religion itself was illegal, if that was what you were thinking about in your question.
Hope that helped :)

One thing that happened was the destruction of Jerusalem. Done exactly as Jesus prophecied. Which is an example of what is to come for the present wicked societies.
The apostles kept growing the congregations, giving us the christian admonitions we need, etc.
