I rarely buy a product to re-use the packaging. I do purposefully buy items in bulk to reduce the amount of packaging.

Well, I recycle all my bottles and containers that I can. I bought a large container of laundry detergent (the kind that you sit sideways and push the button) but, I still have to put the detergent in from another container so that doesn't reallly help.
I do use the styrofoam meat containers to feed my cats on so that they kinda get recycled. And that's good I think. I save some also to send food home to people if I have leftovers or give my neighbors cookies. There great for that.
have a good day!

I use my grapefruit cups over alot, as well as my spread containers but the product I buy strictly to get at the reusable container is frozen generic vegetables. They come with a paper label that comes right off and you're left with a perfect little waxy paper box that makes the best mailer to send gifts back home to friends, family and especially my niece and nephews.

I buy things that don't have unneccessary packaging or a packaging that uses less energy to recycle. An exaple is buying a jar of peanut butter and one box of crackers instead of the pre-packaged ones in all their little wasteful wrappers. Then when I make them I put them in a tupperware or a ziplock that I'll rise out after use.
Another example: I have cats.. they use lots of litter. Instead of buying litter that comes in big plastic tubs, I only buy litter that comes in a cardboard box. Its easier to recycle cardboard than plastic.
As for reusing containers: glass salsa bottles are great for storage, homemade salsa, etc.

My family re-uses the bowls or tubs that margarine comes in. Since they have lids they can be used for many things like leftovers, odd nuts and bolts, nails, or the kids can play with them with dirt and rocks. That is what we re-use the most. Of course, we inevitably end up with too many of them in one far corner of one of the cupboards.

I used to get Jam that came in a container suitable for a glass afterwards but it doesn't seem to be available in the UK.
